Technically, no, as fascism refers to a political ideology. Nazi Germany is the classic example, but many of us think the Bush regime has some fascist qualities. Scientology is a religion that is closest to fascism, and probably Islam
1 often capitalized : a political philosophy, movement, or regime (as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition
2 : a tendency toward or actual exercise of strong autocratic or dictatorial control

No, it's actually the other way around. Religion can be used as a tool by fascists. The way it works is that a party claims to be "the Christian party" and accuses anyone who opposes their proposals of being "Godless" (sound familiar?). They do their best to make it look like political suicide to oppose them, gaining all of the advantages of totalitarian fascism while operating under the guise of democracy.

You got it upside down.Such is the fascist translation of theology into the social and political realms. This happened in the past not only in Christian countries (Italy, Spain) but also in Muslim one (Islamic republics) nowadays. So we'd better say that fascism (and islamism) is based on religion.

Most religions who subscribe to a god head are wrong in their perceptions. A true god head does not control souls but rather lead and guide them towards its realization of that oneness.
