Do they believe in evolution or perhaps something different? Could I get input from some real atheists?

Atheist here. First of all, the theory of evolution isn't about how life originated, only about how different species came to exist.
As for the origin of life itself, that's still in the hypothesis stage -- nobody has figured it out yet. Personally, I don't worry much about it. I'm comfortable with not knowing a lot of things. It's believers who need an answer for everything, even if it's a nonsensical answer.
You might wish to look up the Miller-Urey experiments (see link below for the wikipedia article) which proved that it's possible for organic compounds -- the building blocks of life -- to develop from non-organic matter.

All atheism is, is a lack of belief in a god or gods. Atheism does not actually imply a scientific worldview. An atheist could believe that alien scientists from another world created life on Earth (the Raelians for example).
Skeptics or Brights hold a scientific worldview and think that evidence supports the theory of evolution and the big bang.

The world formed from the solar nebula, like the rest of the planets in our solar system.
As to how life was begun... I am not sure whether Earth's first life forms emerged from base elements by chance, or whether bacteria migrated here by asteroid.
Why do you use the word "believe"? To "true" Christians, is there no such thing as knowledge or discovery??

Ya - Big Bang or Cloud theory.
Evolution - it is proven - nothing to disprove it ! I personally do believe in Evolution.
It is nothing to do with Atheism - there are Christians and Muslims who believe in Evolution - the people who understand that everything the Bible or the Koran says cannot be taken since it is man made!

In as much as I was not around to see how everything came into being (and neither were you),I say, "I don't know ..... YET!" To assume that some god, my less than intellectual ancestors made up, instantaneously farted the universe into being, is absurd

We think it was made by a bearded pixie who waved a magic wand and voila creation....we don't need to think beyond that as it answers all questions about how the world and the galaxies etc came into existence...have a nice day!

I'm not but i think they think everything was caused by the Big Bang theory. It's crap if you want my opinion.
