My religion does, but then I worship myself because I am perfect.

Perfection of the mind is all important. The body is a mere shell for the mind to take it journey to Perfection. Humbly, I am glad I could at least retain some level of moral and spiritual practice. Perfection is still far away for me. Sad.

I think religion gives people the illusion of being better, not necessarily "perfect" -- I don't know if there really is such a thing, although I concede that there really are some who are much better people than others, if any religion makes you have more compassion, be more empathetic and giving to your fellow man, have a deeper understanding of life and cast aside the superficial, then that is good for the person.
Also, anyone who embraces that way of life I don't think would be in persuit of outside "perfection", since this is the superficial and material, which wisdom teaches is fading and futile.

Unfortunately, I think the sad side effect of religion as it translates to most people is to instead blow up people's egos and only give them self-righteous delusions.

The mind is not more important than the body and my understanding of the gospel teaches me that the body is just as important, and so it's my surrounding reality. There is not gap between the spiritual and the physical aspect of reality. And perfection is a matter of being in tune with what you were created for, rather than forcing yourself into a Hollywood type mold.

i would like to answer your second question first. u can never achieve perfection but of course the perfection of mind is much more important than your body. yes, religion takes us closer to perfection because that's what a religion is meant for ! and not just a single religion every religion takes us closer to god. perfection is not achieved by making people to say that u r perfect. it comes itself when u realise that every person is perfect and the vice-versa. pray sincerely onetime and u will notice yourself.

If by perfection you mean the ultimate goal of spiritual unfoldment, yes. If by perfection you mean that you have to get straight "A"s to get approval from a parent or such, no. OH, and by the way, the separation of mind and body is an illusion. This is probably what the mean when they talk about the fall of humankind. We are One.

There is no perfection of the mind, nor of the body. Only of the consciousness.

I think that perfection, though it does not exist, is something that many of us strive to achive. Ideas of the "perfect" life, "perfect" body and so on are always being presented to us. Personally, I strive for excellence, not perfection.
