Any person born in the USA, including anchor babies, are US Citizens and Americans. Children born in the US whose parents are illegal, in-particular illegal Latinos, are being seriously hindered by illegal Latinos here and those continuing to enter. They're also hindered if their illegal-parents, boast pride for their birth country. This type of attitude from a parent is absurd. Every illegal knows the day they enter illegally, they could be deported. It seems every illegal knows that any child born in the US, is a US citizen and cannot be deported(anchor babies). However, once that child reaches the age of 18 and the parents don't have their citizenship, they should be deported. Sorry, if 18 years is not enough time for you to get citizenship, then you obviously don't want to be here. I know some former illegal-Mexicans that applied, passed the test and were granted US citizenship. Becoming a US citizen was important to them, mostly because their kids are US citizens. Illegals having children in the US, then never attempt to become legal, are horrible parents. Especially those overwhelmed with pride and waving the flag of their native country. If my parents came here illegally, waved some foreign flag and exclaimed tremendous pride of the place they left, I'd be so upset. I'd ask them "why the heck did you leave that place and why the hell did you have me here?"

Kids or no kids, the illegals already in the US should be the biggest supporters for closing the border. Seriously, if another 2-4 million illegals arrive again this year, how many will be competing for their job and possibly their kid's job too? Somewhere between 2-4 million, I'd say.

I agree that they are still babies. What I think is inexcusable is the fact their parents, most often their mother, are using these innocent children as instruments to allow them to be here.

I think that if there are illegal parents here who have children in our hospitals not only should the child not be considered a citizen but the parents (along with the baby) should be deported and expected to follow our laws to become a citizen. Why should someone who is breaking the law the moment they step foot on U.S. soil be rewarded? This is a blatant abuse of our good will. Enough is enough.

cs1112us, that was 1607, this is 2006. There was no welfare system or government programs then. I see an awful lot of illegals come into my place of business using WIC checks and welfare cards. This is money that you and I and every other tax-paying citizen are paying with the assumption that the money will go to fellow legal citizens who are in need. I have absolutely NO problem with people who want to come to the US LEGALLY. My problem is with those who come here in the dark of night and abuse our services.

Of course they are babies. The question is whether they should be foreign babies or American babies we have to pay for. Babies are babies, but the economic consequences are very different, especially when you consider chain immigration once the children are grown.

I don't really see us changing the constitution, but as happens, I think the Supreme Court should interpret it as not granting citizenship to children of those illegally here. That is for all sorts of historic interpretation reasons.

However, I think the main thing we should do is do away with chain immigration. Then at least it would only be the child we are talking about.

sittin tight, i suggest you read the history of Jamestown. What do you think Capt John Smith did when the settlers first arrived in 1607? the indians were already here and when the settlers first arrived they docked their ship and come on shore guns blazing and claimed that land as theirs and then went on a killing spree shooting hundreds of indians. you people have so many suggestions but have no clue how 'America' really began. Native american indians -especially chief powatan- welcomed the first settlers, traded with them, and even helped draw maps to further their exploration. the jamestown settlement was first and 12 years later the pilgrims landed on plymouth rock. If the indians treated us like we treat immigrants today there would be no "america". Period! learn something before you open your mouth!l knowledge is power! it's best to keep your mouth shut and let people think your stupid, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Think of it this way. If someone broke into YOUR HOUSE and then had a baby in your living room, would it be fair if you had to take care of it, feed it, send it to school, pay for all its health benefits, etc. just because someone illegally came into your house and gave birth to it there? Wouldn't you call the cops and have the mother and child removed from your house? Be honest.
