Why? are you sooo cheap you cant afford any?
And no parrafin wax will not work, for as soon as you move the bottom of the tent the first time the wax will break, and cause a horrible mess.
Just spend the $5 on a good tent waterproofer

There are no real good home recipes for waterproofing a canvas tent. However........investing in some Scotch-Gard is a very good idea. Waterproofing made especially for tents can be found at any outdoor outfitter store as well as Wal-Mart.

hi there,we used this recipe on our army tent for 33 years, and if it hadden't of caught fire it would be still going im sure. half a quart of linseed oil mixed with a half a quart of ordinary varnish, set it up on a hot day and brush it on with a 4 inch brush, do it every season at the start and she'll stay snug and dry all summer, happy camping.

Buy some industrial paraffin (Used to Make Candles), make it hot in a steel bowel then it will be completely liquid. Paint it on the canvas in hot condition very cautiously.
