Tracy, I feel exactly the same as you, I had a football mad Father, then I married a man who also worships the game Arghh it causes no end of arguments between us, because for instance when the world cup is on, he just switches off from us, it's like a disease lol.

Yes I feel the same. No husband now. All my life either my dad or ex hub watched so many football games it is as if their families didn't exist from August til the super bowl. For 6 months we didn't go anywhere or do anything together because there was a game on tv. On holidays when the family gets together, meals end up having to wait until half time. I'm sure you know exactly what I am talking about. I have nothing against football BUT if they are going to watch it, why not pick a couple teams they like and watch them. They don't have to watch every game that comes on just because someone is playing.

Hmm - probably the same artists who think a urinal or pile of bricks/rubber tyres is 'art'. If you've ever had dinner (top table) in a University College you'll have noted the erudite conversation is all intellectual 'arm-wrestling' - professors and fellows all competing with one another - to appear brighter, wittier, more switched-on, more up-to-date, yawn, yawn. Fair dues - one would be alarmed if they discussed last night's episode of 'Corrie' or 'East-enders' - but the competitive/combative edge is all too obvious. Those who look down on football and millions of fans are of course morons. More to be pitied than condemned. They just don't know what they're missing.

Instead of moaning about it, have you ever watched a match?? These guys are fit! Most have the hottest bodies of any sport and I could watch them run in their shorts all day long!! Good God, go watch a match with your husband and enjoy all the eyecandy on the pitch!!

I'm also football mad and life is just meaningless from June til August. Thank God for friendlies in July!! Hail! Hail! Celtic!!

Its actually 20 grown men chasing a ball, the other two and waiting for one of those twenty men to fire the ball at them at high velocities at which point they careen into the path of the projectile.

Its the warrior in him, localised, national and international tribal war without the death and destruction. Loyalty to the commanders (managers) and specialists (professionals) and your fellow foot soldiers(fans). Would you prefer he stayed in on a saturday, with the rollers in, painting his toenails and bitching about some big brother contestant? On a saturday I like to watch my team kick and humiliate with their skill everyone who dares to compete against them. On a sunday I play the game (amateur level), putting the boot in, and taking the pi55 with some fancy footwork. Battles are won and lost, then after 90 minutes we all shake hands and go home. I actually think there is something wrong with men that don't like football. Your husband is a perfectly balanced individual, with an outlet for his aggressive masculine side.

My best friend feels absolutely the same! She can't make it out, why 22 grown-up fools can't share that dirty ball:-)But my advice: be patient and understanding, your hubby will be thankful! Don't you think it's great that he'll be able to tell his friends that his wife is so cool and nice, supporting his interest?! Try to enjoy the game! Who knows, maybe you'll start liking it! It's really great!!!

I feel the same way. And I find it even more compelling is that some people won't want to know other people because they support a different team or the 2 teams are rivals with each other. basketball is more my sport.

Yes/No
I love football but hate football fans, all of those knuckle draggers should get a life. It is only a game not a way of life.
