Hair grows from the root only. The rest of the hair shaft is dead and tends to split and break when it reaches a certain length. You can help to preserve the flexibility of hair with oils and moisturisers and thus prevent it splitting, to a certain extent.

A healthy diet is the main contribution to healthy hair, however.

Brushing distributes the natural oils produced by the head but it also puts a physical strain on the hair which will tend to break off the older, split hairs, so vigorous brushing and brushing too often is not a good thing.

Hair is not alive. It is just dead protein. Your hair length is genetically determined. Hair goes through cycles of growing and falling out. Some people's hair will grow quite long, others, not so long.
There is nothing that you can do to make your hair grow faster.

-Our hair is generally made up of dead cells, just like the nails and the teeth.

-Split ends can make or not make our hair grow, though it is one of the factors preventing hair growth. My advice is to trim your hair occaasionally to make it healthier, and not forcefully brush hair tangles which causes split ends.
