Yes definitely.
OK if someone wants to report someone who's being perverted like to do with kids or something, fine. But I really think it's pathetic to report people just for the sake of it.
Example: Some one reported me for say Happy Birthday to some one when they had posted a notice that it was their birthday that day. Sad sad people.

now you've got me started. have you put a statement that is not a Christian one in the religion & spirituality section? If you have youll find that fundamentalists report it just because they dont like it! Contrary to what most people here say it is obvious that Yahoo do not moniter this place, but relly on people being honest when they report. now if you upset the extremist Christians they will report you enouth times under different ID's to get you banned, just because you might have a different view to Christianity. Yahoo needs to sort this out and peanalise melishious reporting. I'd only report advertizing and virus spreading personaly.

No, yet they might desire to grant the guy being stated the reason that they are being stated, and supply them of venture to regulate their answer in the event that they desire to accomplish that previously completely deleting it. this might sparkling up countless fake effect (if the justifications for the removing of postings are valid). people who're doubtful on the assumption would be knowledgeable. Abusive cloth that extremely desires to be constrained would be taken out in a greater honest way - a minimum of the guy who wrote it is going to comprehend the certainty. And in the event that they do no longer believe the reason they might then communicate approximately it on the communicate board and get the opinion of others. no count if it somewhat is by skill of presidential order (or from politicians) - why no longer state so. If political ability communities could have an answer or question bumped off why shouldn't they be pointed out as doing so? If Yahoo somewhat is making an attempt to be a severe communicate board and not a stooge of the "Powers that be" and working in direction of censorship to curry prefer with the efficient, why no longer save this out in the open.

No. There are clear guidelines on what is allowed and what isn't. The reporting mechanism allows yahoo to quickly identify posts which are not within the guidelines and remove them. If it didn't have such a mechanism, they would have to employ lots more moderators, as they have a responsibility for the contents of their server. The beauty of answers is that responses are not moderated before they're shown, allowing fast exchange of questions and answers.
I report posts which obviously break the guidelines - I don't do it for fun or because I disagree with someone. This is helping to keep the site useful and usable.

If someone is been verbally abusive why answer the question in the first place. I can swear at the best of times but to write abusive and offensive language is bang out of order and I'm sorry but these people deserve reporting it's our priviledge to do so if we want Yahoo have given us this option.

No, no I don't.
While I don't consider those who abuse the system to be on the same level of true criminals, I do find their antics to range from the simply annoying (do I look cute, here's my email address so that we can chat, why won't the cat give me my pizza) to the downright offensive (the racist comments, the homophobic comments, the groups of drama queens that opt to choose one persons on answers and harass them through the questions).
Those who are abusing the system are detracting from the experience of those who are actually using the system. I consider my time precious (don't judge my use or misuse of my time, even the time taken to answer this question is considered precious to me) and I don't believe that others should be given the ability to take that time away from me without my permission. It takes extra time to read the silly questions if they sound legitimate and to scroll through the ones that make no sense or are created to harass.
This doesn't even count the annoyance to those who are asking questions when silly nonsensical answers are given.
Honestly, the internet is a big place, if those who want to be fools want to do so, they can go start a blog, head to a chat room, or act foolishly in countless non invasive ways.
Love as always,
Sebastian

No I don't think so!!
I have read answers that are deliberately trying to stir up ethnic or religious hatred and violence, some are extremely vicious and cruel and completely unecessary, and some very libelous and foul accusations made toward the questioner.
Not to mention language that would make you hair curl!!
This site if supposed to be for the enjoyment of us all, why should troublemakers be allowed to get away with what they do?

keep it for the real nasty stuff is my view, before now I have just answered with a word of warning, feel better in myself for doing that rather than reporting for abuse just in case it becomes a rather diluted site. I laugh out loud at some of the close to edge stuff, bearing in mind there is a lower age limit for members to the site

Don't agree. There has to some kind of standard. I've only reported questions which were deliberately racist and attempting to stir up other racist comments. If we reported all the stupid, irreverent, poorly constructed English language questions, there would be no Yahoo Answers at all.

Most people give funny answers because they have a sense of humour. I've put some silly questions up to provoke that because some of them make me laugh.
It's a shame that some people report because they don't get the joke, or they have a lack of sense of humour.
The only exception is an extremely malicious answer in a proper question. I would consider reporting that.
