I say the Bible is a book, and like any other book it has some truth, but is not infallible and is subject to interpretation....and I think lot of people really take it way too seriously?

It is also a very bloody book.

I am pretty sure the original is still around somewhere, but yes I would agree it is altered. Any time you translate anything from one language to another you alter it. Anyone that speaks two languages can tell you this as it is how it is interpeted that changes it. For example the Turkish language has very little words and some words in the english language do not exist in turkish they use one word to mean several different english words. So I agree. The Qu'ran in its true arabic form is the way it was written but it too is altered when it is translated into english or french or urdu or whatever the language is.

Also if you look at your Bible it is always someones version, which to me means it is not the true Bible but a version of what is true. For example the Bible I had growing up was the King James Version.

I know some Muslims might say that. But I don't know that all do.

The way I figure it is...

The Bible is God's word. Since it is His Word, He certainly has the power to ensure that it is not changed beyond His original meaning, and if it has, then He would make things right (i.e. the newer translations going back to the oldest source materials available)

If you were to read the Quran, you would notice that there are references to the Bible and so a Muslim cannot make a thorough study of the Quran without knowing about the Bible too. I think (and I could be wrong) that there is mention of needing to learn the Bible in order to truly understand the Quran.

How do you think would someone discredit an honest person? Is it not by spreading that he lies about what he says. That is what being done to the Holy Bible. When you want to claim something false to be true, the best position that one can do is to preempt other claims as false in order to start awareness of its falsely claimed truth. But has everyone noticed that the Christian Church never do that? Why do you have to waste time condemning others as false when you know the real truth? If one is sure that what he claims is the real truth, you don't go around and tell people that others are false. It is just such a waste of precious time and effort. Those who do that are the false ones and they are so desperate that they even resort to killing to silence the truth.

Well, dispite the hate-monger, ignorant question, their true. The bible has been warped and altered from its orignial form, the Catholic Church have been open in what they did to it. Any books they didnt like were destroyed and enforced interpretations still exist today.

Muslims are quite honest about the Koran, they say it cannot be properly translated into English, so they dont believe it should be. Thats a fair enough answer to an ignoramous of a question

None of the Bibles we possess in our homes today are the "original" item. For those of us who do not read and understand Hebrew and Greek it is neccessary to use translated documents.

Linguists will tell you that when a writing is translated from the original language to another, some expressions will have to be modifed in order to achieve the understandable meaning of the author for the reader.

These modifications should not take away from the Truth or alter the substance of the message.

A Muslim, by definition, is a follower of Islam. Since the Bible was already in existence by the time Islam came into being, how is it possible for a Muslim to make that claim. You state "Muslims say...".
Could you possibly supply any facts to back your statement, or are you just thumb-sucking? It ticks me off when people make fatuous statements without any backing. Go well, and God Bless!

The bible was written 400yrs after christ died, its said that there were hundreds of disciples books but they chose the ones they liked!
The Koran is supposed to be the word of god exactly as it was given to Mohammed
If you read both its amazing how similar they are, except the Koran doesnt put women down as much as the bible does.
Both believe that jesus and abraham were special men sent from heaven to teach us something.
If u truly open ur heart and read both, they teach the same thing, love, tolerance and peace.
