It's also known as a basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and yes, it is cancerous. However, it NEVER metastasises to other parts of the body like other cancers do, but it can cause local invasion and damage. It most often occurs on the face, and should be treated or it can eventually cause quite a lot of local destruction.
