That would be a good fight. Both are very fast and have good moves, but I would have to go with Roy Jones. He has more power.

Great question. I'm thinking Sugar Ray Leonard would defeat Roy Jones, Jr. in a very close fight. Ray was just a little smoother and had a little more ring saavy. Leonard got inside Marvin Hagler's head, and I suspect he'd do the same to Jones. I'd love to see that fight!

Sugar Ray Leonard would win just because he fought better opposition than Roy Jones. Roy Jones fought a lot of bums in his career.

A superb matchup! The only time I've seen Leonard baited, psyched out or taken out of his fight plan and lose was against Duran in their first fight. Yes I agree with the majority of the people who has answered and are going to answer this question that Jones would have the physical edge in this matchup. BUT Leonard has that intangible that great fighters have, he's been through the wars, and quite frankly Jones hasn't even sniffed a war. As extremely talented as Jones was in the prime of his career, I see Leonard in his prime figuring out a way to beat Jones. Leonard in a closely contested split decision.

I'm assuming at Middleweight. I'd go with Roy Jones Jr, Leonard was much better as a Welterweight compared to all his other endeavors into the higher weight divisions, yes he did win titles but Welterweight was where he was most dominant.

In response to statements regarding Leonard having fought "better competition", yes at Welterweight. Visit the source below and you'll see Leonard only fought one fight at Middleweight, Hagler. A fight that to this day, many believe Hagler won.

The title he won at Light Heavy was an early xmas gift, care of Don Lalonde? Aunt Bee from The Andy Griffith show could beat him. He dropped to Jr Middle and got spanked by Terry Norris. Finally, in 97, was completely embarrassed by Hector Camacho Sr. Still with all this jumping up and down the scales, one fight at Middleweight. Jones would totally dominate him at 160.

those 2 sparred in 1988. Roy became 18, per chance 19 years old and couldn't omit Ray at the same time with his hook. Roy Jones became superman, in his correct. both warring parties from heritage that would have competed athletically with him were the superb 2 "Sugar" Rays: Leonard and Robinson. yet i visit't imagine Leonard coping with Jones' athletic and length earnings adequate to score a win. yet i imagine Leonard would have moments to effictiveness, adequate to lose an in intensity, yet sparkling decision. the basically question about this wrestle is that Leonard is between the few warring parties that would have competed with the the right Jones. Jones by no skill confronted everybody in his correct that could want to even stay with him. so as that on my own might want to offer him a probability. Tyson couldn't take care of adult adult males that fought decrease back on his factor, per chance Jones couldn't both?

Yes Roy was more of a natural 160 lb than Ray was but Ray fought much better competition than Roy did. Leonard by late TKO in a terrific fight.

I'd have to say roy jones because he is more athletic and more elusive than any other fighter in boxing history in his prime and roy dominated the best fighters of his era like hopkins and toney ,ray leonard didn't ,hearns dominated him in the first fight before the 14th rd.when ray ko'd him and hearns really won the second fight but the judges cheated and said it was a draw also duran beat him in the first fight and also the hagler fight was very controversial.

gotta go along w/brent wholeheartedly. styles make fights and their styles are similar, but ray was a great fighter, w/more heart, guts, and brains while roy was a verrrrry good one. roy never had that really great grudge match/arch enemy(w/the possible exception of toney). ray had duran, hearns, hagler, benitez and beat them all. remember ray fared surprisingly well in a close fight w/duran the first time - he lost the fight but won a lot of hearts w/ his gutsy, if not very bright, attempt to out fight/punch duran. ray was a little more clever than roy and would've gotten inside his head and surprised him w/his speed and the underestimated power he had for a little guy and roy wouldn't have been able to adjust in time. ray might've stolen the fight, but he most definitely would've stung roy and notched the win!

This would be a match of two very fast and clever boxers and I assume you are talking about a match at middleweight. I believe that Jones would be too strong for Leonard and take him out in about 8 rounds.
