Shanghai is great, I was only there for 4 days for my birthday this year.
We had a big party in a club, but unfortunately the clubs close after 2-3am... so you need to find some VIP friends who have access to after hours clubs. Trust me they are hard to find! I would never have believed there was an after hours place where we went until the big old rickety door squeaked open!
I think I was in west Shanghai, there are so many places to go shopping. There is a place I think called New City.... it has great food, but it's kind of expensive.
Landmarks, you have the Shanghai tower, which I think is one of the most beautifully designed towers.
Arriving in Shanghai at night is great, all lit up and beautiful.
Shanghai has a great mix of old and new arcitechture and they compliment eachother well.
You are going to have the BEST time!!!!!
Invest in a foot massage too.... they are fantastic!!!! Cheap too.

If you want to find the top-end places in Shanghai, I saw this guide to Shanghai that would be helpful for you. It's called the Best of the Best Shanghai. They give it out in some hotels. And they even have a website: http://www.best-shanghai.com. It should be helpful for you. Hope you have a fun trip to Shanghai.

i live there now, is a cool city to see as long as you expect everything to be new, busy and sort of brash.
there are big markets selling copied stuff where you have to bargain - is great fun. yu yuan is a beautiful restful garden and temple in the middle of the city, but the nightlife is the best attraction, is a night time city
do a google search for shanghai expat and check out the dining and clubbing stuff
have fun

The oriental Pearl tower is a watch opener, the bund at second is less than structure so i'm not particular in case you could flow there. there are countless places to ensure and save, Nanjing highway at nighttime is complete of foodstuff and buying it really is close to to the Bund. resorts i do not understand as i stayed with my gf at her living house :). there are countless rail structures which could take you places in less than 1/2-hour, museums, gardens and different paying for aspects, get a map you'll like it.
