According to manuscripts from Leonardo Da Vinci himself, the person sitting to Jesus's right is the Apostle John, the youngest of the apostles.

The movie "The Da Vinci Code" identified him as Mary Magdalene because he looked "feminine". This is false; Da Vinci was simply depicting John's youth.

Also note that there are only 13 figures (Jesus and his 12 apostles.) If Mary Magdalene were present there would be 14 people in the painting.

Well that depends on who you ask.I've seen documentaries on the Discovery channel where many so called experts make some good points about this work. The entire production raised some very interesting points about the placement of people in the painting in reference to certain symbols they may represent.
The fact of the matter is Davici never really commented on who it was so any assumption is merely speculation.Go to discoverychannel.com and see if you can find information on this program.I can't answer your question for sure but you could form your own hypothesis after watching the program.

well it ain't no man ....
but i love the whole davinci thing and have read up on quite a lot of it
and yes i find that the book and the film hold some fact held round a lot of fiction
but we still have to remember the painting is only danvinci's own impression of the last supper and not a literal represention of it ...
we all have to make our own minds up on what really happened

Most likely. If you read The DaVinci Code, they make a lot of valid points concerning that.

Alot of people think so.

It looks like it.

Leonardo davinci loved puting codes in his work.

He was also a member of what is know as the Masons today, part of an earlier group, called the knights templars who started the crusades.

These men were privileged to alot of old, esoteric knowldege that not alot of people knew.

That's how he also knew about the golden ratio ( i think that is the name of it) used to draw a mans body or how to invent things like flying machines, etc.. He just knew old knowledge,. he specifically wasn't especially smarter.

No, it is most likely John the youngest disciple, but in all honesty, we have no way of knowing who Leonardo was portraying in his rendition of the Last Supper.

There are numerous versions of speculation. It really depends on which angle you are looking and studying it from. Religiously,it's not. Scientifically,it could be. Mythically, it is.

By the way, just in case, Mother Mary and Mary Magdeline are 2 different persons.

Yes it is, but remember, Leonardo was considered a heretic.

After all, he painted -himself- into that same picture.

People can say yes, or they can say no. The only way to really know is to ask Da Vinci, who isn't around to tell.
