Some of these answers make me so ashamed. I am Catholic and have no intention of converting, but I have Great respect for TRUE Islamics. The religion of Islam does not condone violence or or terrorism. It is a small minority of extremists that are ruining peoples perception of the religion. I traveled to the middle east on 2 seperate occasions while I was in the Marines and from my experience, many of the people there were VERY kind, nice people that just want to live their lives in peace like everyone else.
The way people generalize them as terrorists is unfair. Every religion has extremists. Christians have plenty of terrorists all over the world. perhaps you remember Eric Rudolph who bombed abortion clinics and homosexual clubs not to mention Olympic park during the Atlanta Olympics. What about the terrorists in Ireland who are killing each other in the name of God? Did you know that the KKK considers itself a Christian Organization? or did you know about this?October 2, 2004- Christian terrorist group kills 44 Hindus, wounds 118 in Northeast India.
No religion is perfect. There will always be people that do evil "in the name of their God". The only way to fight back is to become educated about other peoples. Dont generalize that just because there are Islamic terrorists that Islam condones it. Do research and educate yourself. And finally, try to help those that are good, and actually follow their religions true teachings, to end all of the violence around them. Nothing will change if you scorn them.

I haven't chose Islam as my religion but I have always had a question. Why do the Clerics cause confusion working with the politician's laws? Why do the Sunni, Shiite and Kurds fight and kill each other over their different belief in the Islamic Religion? There is a history of this Holy War since time began. Is it because of Abraham's son's?

Personally, I find Islam the most fulfilling religion because it is not a bunch of practices to worship God, it is a lifestyle.
It also allows for the hardest questions out there to be answered. The other day I went to an atheist's site and it had a very long list of "If God exists then why...". It was so easy for me to answer each one of them. I was on the verge on sending my answers to that guy, however, I backed off because I knew he was missing something I had and that is Peace
Until this day, I have not found a religion that have come close to Islam, but I respect the followers of other religions, because we have all come from the same source in the first place

I'm not a Muslim, and I wouldn't choose it now in American because it's on the road to becoming a persecuted religion. The President talks about Islamic Fascism as the threat to our world, pundits portray all Muslims as fanatics. All of this encourages prejudice against Moslems in America, and gives an excuse, even a justification to thugs who need to strike out at some other group.

Though I was a born Muslim but at one stage of my Life I took a consious decision to be a Muslim for my whole life ans the reson is that Islam gave answers to all my problems and queries - other religions didn't even came close to it.

I am surprised as why are so many people far away from the teachings of Islam. If everyone takes Islam as the final way of life - every problem on this World will be eliminated instantly...

I converted to IslAM nearly 20 years ago.
Islam teaches a perfect way of life.
God has chosen this way, and it has not changed ever.
Other religions change in time not Islam
In order to understand the real Islam you need to meet the real muslims (not terrorists) see their way of life, learn about it.Go to a mosque ask any questions on Islam and they will be happy to answer them.
What you see on the news etc. is not Islam.
I hope you spend a little time to understand the religion.
Take care

I'm not a Muslim, but I have a lot of friends who are. I think there is a question to your question when you say "choose".
Do you have a choice to choose the religion? Aren't all Muslims borned to be one?
I was told that you might have a choice to switch, but the procedure will not be simple and you & the family will become outcasts to the community. The isolation would stop anyone from switching isn't it? Not to mention facing their GOD up there after death and be condemned forever.

sure most muslims are born into Islam, but then why do thousands of people convert everyday?
Islam gives you the perfect way of life, it gives you an inner peace and through Quran and Haddith, it answers all of your life's questions.
Sure i was born muslim, but as i grew up and learned about my own religion, I understood why I want to stay a Muslim.
Everybody has a choice, even if they are afraid of persecution, in their hearts they know that they love this religion, and because they are afraid, God shows much more Mercy and helps them along the right path

I respect Islam, but I was born Christian, and I have seen the work of Jesus in my life and in the lives of others. I could never deny my Lord.

Also it seems a little scary that if you are Muslim, and you decide to change religions, your fate is so drastic.

The main reason people choose Islam today is ignorance:

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

I Corinthians 13;8a, Love never fails!!!!!

In the USA a lot of disenfranchised Americans are fed the
lie about getting a raw deal in this life, but they will get a great
deal in the next life by converting to Islam.
