I won't recommend gurgling salt water if you have a sensitive throat like mine. The best thing is to cut a medium sized ginger, washed of course and place in a mug. Cut a medium slice of lemon and place in mug with ginger. Pour hot water from Kettle right onto it. Leave until hot enough to drink. Do this at least thrice a day.
In between that time, you may want to suck on throat lozenges like Hacks which you can get from Africa or African/Ghanaian stores.
This regimen works for me without fail and the sore throat vanishes in 1 day.

Some swear by Honey too. But I personally can't stand it and besides found something that works fast.

Hi - I have found that a very good Ascorbic acid powder with added bioflavanoids is FANTASTIC. If you do not have this at present have real lemon juice (you can add a bit of sugar). The chemists sell Vit C powder and tablets. For some reason I found the powder better. I give this advice assuming that the sore throat is the start of a cold, and/or flue. Catch it early and you will prevent the cold (I do). Look at your diet and make sure you have a regular intake of the vitamins that your body cannot store (Vit C and B). Echinacea, garlic and olive leaf also are effective. Hope it works for you.

Sore throat is an immune system working in your body, possibly there is an infection in your system. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, avoid sweets. Gargle with warm water with little salt for 30 seconds, repeat thrice a day.

Try gargling with luke warm water/antiseptic rinse to remove the phlegm first, then slowly swallow a table spoon of organic honey or try strepsils this helps to soothe the throat, stops itchiness, and eases the pain, if not contact your GP

Make some tea with honey & sip slowly. Or maybe a cold drink like a lemonade will be better with the added benefit of vitamin C. You could also take an OTC pain reliever. Hope you feel better.

3 ways to sort out your problem. 1. vinegar with warm water wash out mouth and/or drink- no diff. 2. salt water. 3. eat a lemon. Enjoy all 3 work. Proven and tested. Acids work. Try orange juice as well.
