Religion is an ugly word! It denotes many bad feeling & experiences in many peoples lives. I myself am a beliver in God. It is just simpler to say that I am a christian because I do belive and follow in the ways of Jesus Christ. But that word "Religion" I stay away from. There is not one true religion in the world. Everyone of them is screwed up. If they all belived in Christ we would not have but one. If they all followed in the ways of LOVE ( the true love of God ) we would not have but one. This one you can take to the bank. It's absolutly true.

I was brought up in a Christian family, and have lived most of my life surrounded by Christian friends.

I had my time of escape, and turning away from God, but I was miserable a lot of the time, and my life was directionless.

When I turned back to God He welcomed me, and forgave me all that I'd done in those years, and I know that because of Jesus' sacrifice in taking on my sins as his own, and accepting His gift of forgiveness, my future in Heaven with Him is assured.....

I don't consider myself as having a "religion" at all, I just love Jesus and try to live my life according to his teachings.

Others including lefftylucy and duckie have expressed it better than me......... thankyou

I bore witness to the supernatural, after that i knew something was happening, and from what I saw I was sure it was God.

After studying the bible for over 18 months, I have come to my conclusion.

Also after studying evolution at Sydney University; I realised that the theory of evolution was also bogus... Who could I turn to!!

Jesus, and i will never turn back, his love has changed my life from sooo so much, I am so ashamed of many of the things I have done in my life. Yet I know that Jesus Christ forgives me for ALL those things as he forgives ALL manner of sin. For that I am very grateful and appreciative, and love my new found friend; Jesus.

I didn't choose Christianity for the religion... I chose it for the personal relationship that I - and anyone else - can have with God :-)

What's the difference between
Jesus and world religions?
Let's take a brief look at some of the major aspects of Jesus Christ, which stand in stark contrast to what's in the world's religions.

Jesus Christ pursues a relationship with us. Have you ever been in a relationship where you were always the one who was initiating? They are tiresome and usually don't last very long. Best friends are the ones who enjoy each other so much that they invest their time equally in pursuit of that relationship. Unlike religions that try to reach their God, with Christ you see God reaching out to us. Jesus Christ said why he came: "that you might have life, and have it more abundantly." He came to give us an eternal life with him, for those who will believe in him.

Jesus claimed to be God. No world religion's key figure claimed to be God.

Jesus lived a perfect life and showed his deity in the miracles he performed...healing the blind, quieting a violent storm at sea, raising people from the dead, instantly providing food for thousands of people. World religions have leaders who gave interesting messages, but none of them showed their miraculous power like Jesus did. Jesus said, "Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves."

In many world religions people whip themselves for their sins or perform extensive self-sacrificing rituals. Jesus offers us forgiveness because as God, he paid for our sin for us. "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." On the cross, Jesus carried all of our sins for us and paid for them.

That's a silly question. Because it's the only good one! That's like asking why you choose chocolate cake over onions!
