Im sorry, I forgot that i was talking to EVERYONE around the world. Well in our state we have this "so called law now" that we cannot take photos of our children in a sporting event. Thats how dumb our laws are now, you cant even wipe your ass, and someone has it on the front of the newspaper. We have a lot of pediphiles in this country, yes including preists. but i dont think anyone should take that right away from a parent. Im totally forgot about the other countrys on this site.

Some one is pulling your chain or you are pulling ours. There is no such law. There may be a rule some where but no law. You can take pictures at children's sporting events. You may not be able to go on the playing field or court to do so, that would be a rule, but; from the stands you should still be allowed to take the picture. What you may not be able to do is publish that photo in periodical or on the web without the written consent of the child's parents. But, I am certain that no law exists that prevents people from photographing children in sporting events. If that were true we could never host the olympics again. Your average female gymnist is 16. And, the rules have less to do with pedophiles than with photographers being too close to the competition. I used to shoot such photos and i always had to clear things with the school, the stadium and the referees before I set up. Perhaps that is all you need to do as well.

In australia it is not that bad...YET! My kids concert is coming up and we are not allowed to video or take photos of our own kids but get this,it will be filmed for us to buy if we want. They state we cant do it due to privacy of the other kids yet we can buy it (at $30) to me this one is just a way to get more money from us.
I do think in some cases the reasoning is if a child is been hidden for it's own protection from someone and that photo gets out and the child is tracked down but the chances of this is so remote it is ridiculous. What a wonderful world we live in

That is insane. I'm not a parent but I think that law was not well thought out. I used to play sports as a kid so the coaches and staff generally know who all the parents are and who 'strangers' are. If other parents are regular game attenders too they will notice anyone unusual there. There are times when govt. tries to step too far into private life. It's a shame that parents will not be able to capture childhood athletic achievements for posterity.

That is bovine excrement. I would not stand for it at all. That is your god given right as a parent to take pictures of your child.

Weird.... I had no idea about that. Is taht really because of pedophiles or is it because it's distracting during a game?
