Are you refering to Mexico's state sponsered Invasion of America? Countries that tell their citizens to violate the immigration laws of another do seem to be declaring a defacto declaration of war.

Why have a 'war' on immigration, when the truth of the matter is that it's a fairly mundane law enforcement administration deal that's just been poorly handled? So, to FIX it, you put enough enforcement on the border, and going after employers that hire illegals, and you take care of business. 'War' is when you use tanks and artillery and airplanes to lay waste to another country.

Let's have nationwide reforms to solve this whole mess, once and for all. Close the door on ALL immigration until the legal/illegal mess gets sorted out. Basic common sense. If you really want to work and live in america, 5 years is not too long to wait. Beats 'never'...this administration and our states need to put their heads together and come up with a cohesive, nationwide way to deal with the whole thing, you know, open co-operation(word means working together), that kind of thing.

All in all though, hopefully the people advocating to illegally admit people into our country are sitting up, and taking notice, but even if/when they do, that doesn't mean it's over, just that there's been a little progress. Long-term, though, it's going to mean things like actually completing the border fence, and laying down the law in our states as regards the whole thing of living and working in our country at all. Other countries have been all over this problem for years, so what's our excuse, there? Short answer is, there is no excuse, and when you read about guys like Schwarzenegger waffling and tap-dancing their way around enforcement, which should be pretty straightforward to where even a 'ubermensch' can 'get it', it's a pretty sad spectacle, as far as I'm concerned.

Look: You get a map, where it shows the US and Mexico. There's a line. Right along that line, you build a fence/wall/barrier/call it what you will. In the major cities, you start opening up immigration enforcement centers. You charter some buses. You find the ppl that are in the country illegally, and you ship em back. To Mexico. Where they came from.

We're not splitting the atom, here...but cutting through political BS to see some reasonable action taken on enforcement appears to have become a herculean task, so the more people that sit down and write a good letter and get their states and Congress motivated to act clearly and professionally on this one, the better off we'll all be, because illegal immigration is JUST as damaging for Mexico as it is for the United States. Mexico's able-bodied workforce has migrated north, their 'alphas' if you will, the best and the brightest, have bolted, leaving the rest to fight over the dregs of Mexico's future. Mexico NEEDS 'hard working' people, right? So, the real answer is to figure out what to do to get Mexico standing up as an independent, economically self-sufficient country, which it probably would be by now if not for the actions of some of their shadier politicians, and some of ours.

Also, Mexico needs to build more and better schools, where they can teach things like 'birth control' and 'law', little details that've made a big impact in other countries, including ours. Bricks aren't that hard to make, and many hands make light work....so the only reason that Mexico isn't covered in school buildings is....?
Furthermore, you can have 'class' in someone's living room or something, but dollars to doughnuts the problem isn't even really learning. It's the perception that there's an 'easy out' called 'moving to the United States'. End that, and Mexico will evolve, in my view...

This whole thing has gotten WAY stupid, first/best step is to get the border finished.

Yeah- what war on immigration. I think USA should start one. They segregated the blacks, why can't they do the same with Mexicans? The French and Germans has broken all ties with them and won't help them one bit, there is probably a good reason why! Why can't USA do that? USA against the Mexicans; now that's what it should be.
