My brother used to inflict pain and cuts on himself a lot. He didn't use the traditional knife tactic though, he would tear up beer cans and slice up his arms then sqeeze lemon juice in them. He would also burn himself with lighters. To him he enjoyed the pain.

Young people cutting themselves is not uncommon. It is best to not do this. I did it when I was a teenager. I think it was to prove to myself that I could be master of my body. Like I say, it is better not to do this.
