55 correct push-ups is excellent! An average of 40-45 is also ok, but you can do more!

Try this technique:

Start in the push-up position and do:

5 push-ups

4 push-ups

3 push-ups

2 push-ups

1 push-up

2 push-ups

3 push-ups

4 push-ups

5 push-ups

The above technique will build "Strength".

The key muscle that needs to be very developed is not just the shoulders and chest...but the TRICEPS. You can develop the triceps muscle by doing bench dips.

Do not over train! If you keep doing 40 to 45 your muscles will get use to it, and they will not grow or get stronger.

I think Its good to do as many as you can three times in a row. like I do 3 sets of 20 a day. But to awnser your question Ive done 50 I think once. Thats good.

Are they real military pushups or just wimpy "twitch pushups"? Military pushups require you to touch the ground with your chest for each repetition. I doubt you could do 55 of those.

That's pretty damn good for someone who's fifteen. It depends on if you're BSing through most of them or not, though. ALWAYS make a 90 degree angle with your elbows or lower.

considering your weight i\d say that\s average to ok. try gaining more muscle by continuing... then try doing 50 when you weigh 70-75

I'd say so! I can't even do one...not even a "girl" pushup so you're doing a lot better than me!
