thats cause your hair might be too dark to turn blonde. so the lightest shade it could turn to was light brown. so next time if you want it really BLONDE, then you should bleach your hair first, or you can get a really lighter shade of blonde. usually on the box, they would show you pictures of different color shades of hair then how its gonna turn out. the lighter your hair, the lighter it`ll turn out, a little something like this...

so it all depends on your hair color & the color of your hair dye

If you have dark brown hair, coloring your hair blonde doesn't work. You would need to bleach it first and then color/dye it. I had the same problem when I tried coloring my hair auburn. It was like trying to use a red pen over black paper, you could see it if you look hard, but it doesn't really make drastic change.

there wasn't enough lift for your tone of hair .Go to Sally's beauty supply look at the swatches and get 30 or 40 vol depending on how light you go .The bottle colors will also have lifting numbers like 5 through 10 depending on the shade you need. The people there will help you.Stay away from green and ash bases

Did you do a shade test? Look on the box, you may need to lighten gradually, but please leave it three weeks before attempting another one. Iwent from red toblonde but it took three months. Your hair condition is the most important factor in all of this and if I were you, I'd get myself some Redken shampoo and moisturiser. Avaialble from www.Lookfantastic.com

Good Luck

If you had dark hair to begin with, you should have either bleached you hair or used a lightening powder first, then used the hair dye.

This would have been xplained in the instructions.

Your hair was too dark. You need to bleach it to get it blonde, and then you can colour it to the desired shade.

if your hair is darker you should leave it in just a littler bit longer or don't let your husband do your hair
