Who is president hasn't mattered since maybe as far back as Lyndon B. Johnson(at least in mattered when Truman was president-after that it's a little sketchy). So why do we pretend that it does matter? The two parties are exactly the same, and there aren't enough people actually voting in America to have a true popular vote winner. The president may as well be decided by the electoral college throwing a coin in the air with one side being blue and the other side being red.

The deficit being so large probably affects any average american this much ----->0.000000000000000000000000000003%.
Sure Bush has had some bad ideas-but congress had to pass them, which they did.

There are no REAL differences between parties. They differ on trivial things(abortion, gay marriage, secularism, etc.) but ultimately they're both the same corporate money-fueled, interest group kowtowing spineless bastards that are shitting on our constitution everytime they open their mouths.

Very true. The same powerful people control both parties. This can be changed if the American people get angry enough to support a third party run by people who honestly represent the interests of its citizens.

Unfortunately, you have to kill 250,000 Americans (Vietnam) before they unite and hit the streets.

Becuse before Bush's election we were running a surplus, and after his election we're running a deficit. It actually does matter, and there are important differences between the parties. Bush's tax cuts alone cost us upwards of 400 billion a year, and don't even get me started on the Supreme Court.

true. The next question is... why don't we as Americans stand up for what we believe in and take action. We all ***** about gas prices, but we don't stand up to our government and demand change. They never do anything to truly benefit us and we just let them get away with it. I used to think other countries were assholes when they called us "stupid americans" but now I am wondering if we all really aren't just stupid americans.

Whoever is president does matter. There are plenty of differences between the parties. Where have you been?

Wow, well, for one we are judged around the world for the decisions he makes and what he says, which in turn influences our international relations, which influences terrorism. He also has rights granted to him (powers) which enable him to effect things from congress.
