There are patches and all sorts of do dads on the market. In actuality you have to be ready in your mind in order to succeed...and mind over matter is the name of the game. Cold turkey is the ultimate conqueror. It is difficult but you can do it. I know from experience...I did it thirty years ago. I quit for about 14 months and started again. My mistake was smoking 1. Then another and then another. Before I realized it I was smoking again. Six months later I quit again. This time I never again took that 1. I was determined to get rid of my stinky smoke breath and increase my chances to live longer. Now fresh air is so precious to me that even second hand smoke is distasteful. There is so many other dangers in our air that you don't need to help with this disastrous habit.
See smoking for what it really is. A death trap. It destroys your lungs and takes its toll on your body.
YOU CAN LIVE WITHOUT IT!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am proud of you for making the descision to stop. I am going on my 9th month of being smokefree and it is awesome!
You just have to make up your mind that you are stronger than the urge. There are meds you can get to help and support groups. My changing moment was when my father passed away of cancer.
Anyway, I wish you all the best with stopping smoking. Not only are you going to be healthier but think of all the money you are saving!!!!!! For over 8 months I have been putting the money I would have spent on smokes into the bank in a seperate account....I am thinking about on the one year anniversary throwing one he!! of a party.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!

I quit several years ago and it took me quite awhile to resist temptation and stop totally, in fact, the joke was 'I find quitting very easy, I'm doing it all the time.

I have read that sometimes using the patches available (one of them) can help as it reduces your need for nicotine. There are many places to support you from community groups to online.
