"In India, super refined wheat flour is called maida. This flour is used to make a wide variety of food items like puri, chappathi, parotta, etc. Maida is sometimes referred to as "All purpose flour".In India maida is used to make pasteries and other bakery items like bread, biscuit, toast " from Wikipedia so therefore a definite YES - - - but one suspects the All-Purpose Flour in Canada to be cleaner and more prone to produce white bread whereas the Indian variety may be coarser and closer to whole wheat in texture & flavor.

All-purpose flour is made from a blend of high-gluten hard wheat and low-gluten soft wheat. It's a fine-textured flour milled from the inner part of the wheat kernel and contains neither the germ (the sprouting part) nor the bran (the outer coating). U.S. law requires that all flours not containing wheat germ must have niacin, riboflavin, thiamin and iron added. (Individual millers sometimes also add vitamins A and D.) These flours are labeled "enriched." All-purpose flour comes in two basic forms-bleached and unbleached-that can be used interchangeably. Flour can be bleached either naturally, as it ages, or chemically. Most flour on the market today is presifted, requiring only that it be stirred, then spooned into a measuring cup and leveled off.

All-purpose flour is - as its name implies - for most uses. I don't know what that word, "maida", is. If its a word from another language you could do a search for "online translation" or "translate words" and see if its the same as all-purpose flour. There is another type of flour, Wondra, and that's a very fine flour for use in things like gravy. The all-purpose is pretty much for any baked goods. You could use it in something like a gravy, but it can be lumpy.

Self-rising flour is all-purpose flour with added salt and leavening (baking powder). You will notice that recipes that call for self-rising flour do not call for baking powder. Make your own self-rising flour
