Its not all english that do it but many do not just in Scotland, they do it in Australia , New Zealand, Canada on holiday where they are in a foreign country but expect everything to be English food, menus language etc, they created the image of the whinging pomme that has followed them throughout the world always talking about what its like at home or in the old country until locals say what we're now saying to the thousands of immigrants, if its that good where you come from "Why Don't You Go Back There" , I'm not for one moment saying all English are like that ,the trouble is they are in the minority but unfortunately they are the loud minority which puts us all in the same bracket.

The truth is that houses are cheaper, cost of living is perceived as being cheaper, the countryside is lovely, Scottish people seem to be nice (mostly) but it does rain a lot.
English people (and I am one) complain about everything. So it's not really because of Scotland. We just like complaining - but only in shops and the post office.

Probably for the same reason Scots live in England and then constantly go on about how wonderful Scotland is.

We visited Scotland several years ago. We are from L.A. Scotland is so lovely. We did experience friction between the English and the Scots though.

OK this is why people move to your country,to get away from the thieving politions who have invaded England from scotland ,and don,t you think after all these years of subsidising your people we have the right to get a little back for our money

Well it might be something to do with the scenery, slower pace of life.
There's a lot of them where I live and I know what you mean about the loud voice thing, complaining in the queue in Tesco's and how they never think of opening another two checkouts but that's just old people.
Try to see the humorous side of it.
They're not going to harm you!

Because property prices are far less. I live in Kent and my wife is always viewing properties ready for her retirement and she finds we can have the size house, location, garden and neighbourhood we desire in Scotland for the money we will get for our small semi in Gravesend.
The only drawback is the weather and that is probably why those you refer to are grumpy. Sunshine and warmth improve attitude.

moaning etc is what they do everywhere, even in England.
But Scotland (highlands & islands) is very beautiful, so they might just as well moan etc there
