The Hamptons, Atlantic City (my parents used to take me there when I was a baby... I don't remember it really and I don't think your 2 year old will either... there are boardwalk things and the beach besides the gambling and shows. Also, Cape Cod, Lake George, Hershey PA. You could go down to Philadelphia and take your 2-year old to Sesame Place! That was the BEST when I was young.

From New York, the closest vacation spot (besides new york, of course) i can think of is lake george. Niagara falls is a little farther but worth the trek, although some things are probably not for two year olds. another option is cape cod, very nice, and if that's too far, try a two day visit to the mystic area in connecticut.

Drive over to the Main coast - and play on the beach - eat crab and stay in a tent - it will be memorable.

go to myc.. go to times square, there you can go to planet hollywood or something like that...go to museams.. central park..lots of fun stuff
