i always get up and go for a ride or watch tv until i begine to get tired or start cooking or cleaning i donno if it'll work for u, but it works for me...

You didn't indicate whether you are allowing yourself enough time to sleep or whether you have the time but cannot stay asleep long enough.
Don't lie there hoping to fall asleep. (If you are active for enough of the day, you should be tired and ready for sleep.) In the event that you aren't able to fall asleep after meditating for a few minutes, or you can't fall back asleep after awakening, get up and read. It has worked for me for years. The best way may not be to sit at the computer, but it IS another way to make a person sleepy.

if you are not feeling sleepy that means you are spending your day with out having much activity. Try being more active in day time. naturally you will get a good night sleep.
There could be another explanation, may be you are worried about something or exited about something. In this case i suggest you listen to slow music.

Long hot jacuzzi bath or long hot bath if not jacuzzi. It also rehydrates you skin.
Also for the next day I used to tell my employees that...
"The worse you feel, the better you dress"
Throws the public off a bit if you are sleepdeprived and look it.

Well, in about 10 min my girlfriend will be at my house, ***** and ready to go.... about 2 min after that I will be asleep... Joking, 3 min..... lol
