No one has ever EVER (no italics so I'm using caps, I'm not being angry) stated that we came from monkeys with any scientific knowledge. Monkeys and humans both evolved from a common ancestor, saying we evolved from monkeys is like saying your fifth cousin twice removed gave birth to you. No, we are both primates and that is about the biggest similarity between us. I just don't like the question "If we came from monkeys how come the other monkeys didn't evolve!?"

I asked a similar question awhile ago and I didn't know all the details and admittedly looked a little dumb, but I've read the modern synthasis of the theory since and see where I was wrong. Everyone should read the modern theory before they bash evolution, it makes almost too much sense to be a theory anymore.

PS,
A religious publication is the worst possible place to get information on the subject. It is a biased source and so should be discreditted. If you're going to read about it read it from an objective source.

intelbarn, I like how you mention how far it has come. People have to remember that Gregor Mendel's studies didn't make it big for years, Darwin started it but it has changed so much since then, and developed very much. So when people bash Origin Of Species that is useless, it was the cornerstone of the modern theory yes, but it is not what is still studied. And I agree that it is pretty much fact, you just have to know the whole thing.

stive br, no, just no. Darwin never said that.

No one worth a **** claims we "claim from monkeys". The claim, using DNA evidence, is that apes and humans evolved from a common ancestor.

Edit: To clarify, I concur.

Edit2: To call evolution a "theory" is a misnomer. Evolution is an observed fact, the "theory" of evolution is the scientific method's way of explaining said facts. It is a theory because we are still figuring the damned thing out (i.e. DNA didn't exist as far as Darwin was concerned).
I would imagine people with very shrill voices stated that Apollo existed for centuries. So I don't worry too often.

Brother I studied evolution at university, majored in Biology - its totally bogus.

We were created and did not come from monkeys or another primape but we came from other humans.

The entire evidence of human evolution can fit into a 5 foot coffin. Most of it is teeth, and joint bones.

You have to realize that when people present evidence for evolution, they will present facts that point toward it, and omitt things that do not.

I'm not asking you to believe in creation, but have a look at this source from an evolutionist turn creationist and tell me what you think.

When people say monkeys, they often include apes in the category (colloquially speaking).

The alleged common ancestor of humans and apes would have been a creature that looked kind of like an ape. So, colloquially speaking it would be right to say that humans came from monkeys (i.e., ape-like creatures).

Speaking of evolution...

It is relevant to note that...

Darwinism is ultimately a statement of Atheist Faith.

As Evolutionist Stephen J. Gould has stated, evolutionists "know" that Evolution has occurred; however, there is controversy about the mechanisms involved. In other words, evolutionists are arguing and fighting about the mechanisms involved.

This is code-speak for the fact that evolutionists "believe" that evolution happened without God, but they dont really know exactly how. They have a bunch of conjectures and speculations, but they do not have empirical proof of atheistic macro*evolution.

--
There is no evidence that proves Atheistic MacroEvolution (without Intelligent Design)...

I used to believe in Evolution. However, over a period of time I have grown skeptical of the claims of Macro*Evolution... this is largely due to the weakness of the evidence for Macro*Evolution, and the fact that the evidence, rationally interpreted does not support the overarching claims made by Macro*Evolutionists...

For scientific and intellectual critiques of evolution, see http://www.godsci.org/gsi/apol/evo/00.html .

Is Evolution a FACT? Not really -- not in the macro*evolutionary sense. See http://www.godsci.org/gsi/apol/evo/evofaq2.html for relevant discussion.

---
I find that the vast majority of people who believe in evolution, do so by faith and authority.

Faith -- because atheistic macro*evolution is a faith; and Authority -- because they believe in the word of "experts" in the field, rather than truly understanding the evidence themselves.

Cordially,
John

Probably the same reason people bash Darwin (who referenced a Creator and never once talked about humans evolving from animals) without having read him.

(If you haven't, I highly recommend it. Origin of Species is an easy read, pleasant, and written in a very deferential tone--the man knew he was going to get jumped.)

We share common ancestors, and are primates ourselves. But doesn't necessarily mean we're related to monkeys. Good post. We did originate from the African continent, but that necessarily mean we simple evolved in a simple evolutionary line from monkeys. However...I did happen to find this floating around the internet.

So..everyone..take a look?

that's really cool that you educated yourself.

sooner or later, if you study darwinism enough, you're probably gonna start learning more about genetics so you can understand exactly how mutations occur during the replication process.

this is the BEST website i've ever seen on the subject. it teaches all about the protein synthesis and different types of RNA and what not, using very detailed animations. you will become very educated very quickly by studying this.

You don't understand. The great Scientist Sir Charles Darwin tells that you come from Monkey so I call you McMonkey.

Details, details, details. People would rather bash evolution with religious theories, then do their research and find out for themselves. It's more fun for people to say that we came from monkeys then find out the truth.

the actual undeniable reality that your great grandparents were people, not monkeys, genuinely help evolution's fee of mutation. in case you could educate to me that 2 hundred million+ years in the past, your ancestors were people, not monkeys, then it truly is evidence against evolution. yet what you acquire right here at present might want to be genuinely evidence helping evolution.

Glad to see someone is reading books. Just want to recommend you run out and buy anything by Richard Dawkins. The Ancestors' Tale is excellent.
