A "Jellico Cat" is a cat high-brow enough to have THREE names...like,
Woodrow Wilson-Tate (who I always called "Woody"), or
Jocelyn Brown-Wildenstein (whom I called "jojo".
but, they always had 3 names...always.

Jellicle Cats are black and white,
Jellicle Cats are rather small;
Jellicle Cats are merry and bright,
And pleasant to hear when they caterwaul.

The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter,
It isn't just one of your holiday games;
You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter
When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES.

Not quite. a close reading of Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats will tell you that Jellicle Cats are black and white, small, and dance.
And that all cats have 3 names. Like my cat who is called around the house Lucy, known here more formally as Lucy C. Tabby and

But above and beyond there's still one name left over,
And that is the name that you never will guess;
The name that no human research can discover -
But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess.
When you notice a cat in profound meditation,
The reason, I tell you, is always the same:
His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation
Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name:
His ineffable effable
Effanineffable
Deep and inscrutable singular Name.

The musical Cats???
However when the St. Peter cat helps select the winner of the Grand Prize at T.S. Eliot's cats' Jellicle Ball, she turns out to be a worthy cat after all. or, as described by Mr. Eliot:

Jellico Cats are white and black,
Jellico Cats are of moderate size;
Jellicles jump like a jumping jack,
Jellico Cats have moonlit eyes
They're quiet enough in the morning hours,
They're quiet enough in the afternoon,
Reserving their terpsichorean powers
To dance by the light of the Jellicle Moon
