No extreemists. No suicide bombers. No inquisition. No witch trials. No guilt. No Dark Age. etc............. How many have to die for this need to feel we will have an after-life (like with 50 virgins)? That there is someone in control?

No religion means no God which means no universe, which means no YOU, brain boy! But right now, that's startin to sound like a really good idea. Why don't we just start with the no you?

If there was no religion, the world would be a much more peaceful place. People would actually be morally responsible, and they might care about this planet a bit more. There would be no religion to hide behind, so people would have to take responsibility for their own actions and choices.
Sounds like a great place to me!

A world without religions would be better. But that wouldn't make wars disappear. Warmongers would have to get themselves another pretext to fight for. I'm afraid the situation is not so simple. But "Imagine" is basically an excellent message.

Doesn't mean there wouldn't be fighting. People would still squabble over politics and land rights and all that shiz because that's essentially what people do. After all, the US is in the middle east primarily because of oil, isn't it? Not a lot to do with religion there.

Religion is not the problem. Human Sinfulness is.

It is relevant to note that killing in the name of an ideology is not limited to religion.

Atheists in power killed 70 million to 100 million in just the 20th century.

This is far more than have been killed in any war involving religion.

Most wars are fought over culture and resources (rather than over religion).

Cordially,
John

i agree with san_mateo_guy.. no religion = no reason to fight. but at the same time, having no religion at all would mean having no purpose in our lives and no basis for morality [essentially meaning no morals]

i don't think being religious is bad.. it's just that there a many people who are closed-minded and refuse to respect others and their beliefs..

this world is a spiritual battle because satan is the prince of this world....it is a fallen world, so it will always have wars.

the main thing satan is good for is to "kill, steal, and destroy" by keeping people in bondage.

people have always fought for physical (earthly) freedom. why not fight for the freedom that comes through Christ??? what goes on in the natural world is a reflection of what's happening in the spiritual world in some way.

so why oh why would you want to roll over and allow yourself to be enslaved?!?!?!?!?

It'd be a lot better world, that's for sure. We'd probably have a halfway decent sense of civilization and morality.
