I went into a starbucks tonight in houston. (westheimer and montrose area). There was this blonde female with glasses who was soo RUDE. I came into the store and she just stared at me rudely. Then when I approached the counter she refused to make eye contact with me. I greeted her with one big smile and one enthusiastic "HELLO" but she refused to look at me. Then she glared at me when I placed my order. I paid her, she just scowled at me and handed me the change WITHOUT SAYING ONE WORD. She then proceeded to make my drink. She handed me the drink and the cap fell off and the drink spilled on my hand and she just scowled at me. Regardless, I was nice to her and polite but I feel it was her job to do that to me. What kind of customer service is that? RUDE RUDE RUDE woman.

I can understand if rude customers come in and they are rude, but why are they so rude to NICE customers that actually treat them with respect?

dr schmitty. You live in a different area and location that I do, so it makes no sense how you can compare your experience with mine. I am talking about my experience with this particular person in this particular location.

male_lonely_shy you.. you aren't very smart. I did ask a question and I wanted people to answer it, but answer it intelligently. Your answer however sucks. You are annoying which is why you are probably a "male_lonely"

male_lonely_shy, in addition, I read all your questions and answers. What the hell do you know about life and dealing with people? you are a virgin and you haven't had sex at age 30? it's probably because nobody wants you. You go to church?? I find that laughable since you seem to be extremely judgemental of my situtation. I feel sorry for you, and mind you, your answer holds no weight and has nothing to do with my question you stupid idiot!!!

Customer Service is one hell of a job, cashiers usually get stuck in front of the counter do deal with the most of the most rude customers ever! my best bet is that she had one of those customers right before you, she probably couldn't keep that smile required by the boss so she sort of took it out on you.
--------EDIT------
like i said some cashiers just have a bad attitude problem!

Believe it or not, Starbucks is on the list of the best companies to work for, because the pay is *okay* and everyone gets benefits. So it's not that her job sucks so bad, it's that her attitude sucks. Fact is, she's in a service industry, and she should be doing her job. Most of the time it's best to let it go, but if you are really bothered by this, report her bad behavior to her manager and she will get written up.

Don't worry it was probably not you she was upset about, who knows what might have ruined her day. I don't think this is an excuse for her out of line rude behavior. You looked like the better person in the long run, so don't let her ruin your day. Keep smiling, there are people out there that appreciate that sort of thing.

I have worked in customer service. They don't know how to hire employees anymore.

It seems to me that you really didn't even want to ask a question here. You just wanted to come on and bash Starbucks. You say that this one time, one employee was rude to you. Then when someone else stated that he has had no problems at Starbucks you get nasty with him. I guess we all know who was actually at fault when you went into Starbucks. Instead of harassing the Starbucks employees, why don't you make your coffee at home.

i must say i have been to Starbucks up and down the northeastern corridor and have never once experienced rudeness. In my opinion star buck's employees are, if anything, overly courteous to the point of appearing (once in a while) fake.

great product, great employee training, great experience; my only complaint is the price, but then again we get what we pay for

Pretty much every starbucks employee is rude, I live in Mich and its like that here. It must be apart of the training program that is all I can figure.

she is bitter because she has to make coffee for 6.00 or less an hour. just be satisfied that you arent in her shoes and you are actually a nice person, and take pride in the fact that she will most likely lose her job because of it.

in any case, it is her fault she works there, just seriously, dont let that bitter idiot get to you.

Maybe she had a bad day and decided to take it out on the customers.
