Because when we are given the advice or when we already know what we need to do we hesitate because we are emotionally tied to our own situation. For instance....if I tell someone their significant other is not respecting them and they should get rid of them, but if someone treats me with disrespect I might take it. It's all about emotions.

If it isn't us, then it's in black and white. We, as adults, know the difference between right and wrong and make those choices easily without emotional attachment. The emotions, however, add color to the situation and we aren't sure that those things apply to us because we feel different than we should. Deep down though, we do know.

Because we want to hear from others hoping that our inner voice is wrong and the situation is probably better than we percieve it. But it seems we all actually know the answers to some degree...we just simply want to be naive about it.
