No, but it is an essential part of a healthy balanced diet, so, if you are not eating well, an omega 3 supplement would be good for your brain, heart, joints etc.

As far as i know the purpose of Omega 3 is to reduce the colorie level in your blood thus making your heart more healthier. It capture calori but not burn fat. If you want to burn fat or want to increase the metabolism of your body i suggest that you taking L-Carnitine. It is kind of precusor that will help burn the fat in our body. Actually these precusor produce by our body itself to burn fat during the process of breaking the structure of fat. Some peope got low amount of these subtitue. High level of L-Carnitine will make you burn more fat. But remember this L-Carnitine must also be used with regular exercise. With L- Carnitine you also gain lots of energy, you will feel more energertic and less tiredness.
you must do regular excercise like walking to trigger the process. It must be trigger by exercising. It will be more effective if you do aerobic exercising.
