A antibiotic is a natural or synthetic substance that destroys microorganisms or inhibits their growth. Antibiotics are used extensively to treat infectious diseases in plants, animals, and humans. There are different types that act in different ways i.e., bactericidal antibiotic which kills microorganisms, bacteriostatic antibiotic that inhibits the growth of microorganisms, beta-lactam antibiotic which destroys germs by interfering with the synthesis of bacterial cell walls (these are your penicillins or cephalosporins), broad-spectrum antibiotic which is effective against a wide variety of microorganisms, narrow-spectrum antibiotic which is specifically effective against a limited group of microorganisms.

They kill various diseases. But be careful - there is far too much use of antibiotic. They should be used only in exceptional circumstances, and not used regularly. Overuse is very dangerous
