It probably would be better talking to family as opposed to friends..i believe family always comes first. So get hold of whom ever u r closest with in your family and just tell them exactly how you feel..then probably get proffessional help
try not taking life too seriously. hope you get over your depression.

I was surprised that many people already knew of my clinical depression, before I did! They could see the devestating effects of the illness, more clearly than I could. I have found in the ensuing years, that most people are supportive, whenever I am direct and honest about my condition. I have found that I am a master at masking it, so for those that I have been less than honest with, they are the ones least likely to understand or be involved in my life. This has helped me weed out those people who are the least supportive, ironically, most of my paternal family. Those that offer unconditional love and support, are the ones to surround yourself with.
They can be worth more than their weight in gold,
especially on the bad days.
I wish you good health and relief from your symptoms.

If that someone is your special friend...then talk to her kindly and let her/him know how you are concern about them. Let them know what you see in them doesn't seem right...and how it is not him/her to be that way. Then you can say to him /her...you are only doing this because you care about him/her and that you love them...then suggest them to get counseling help. You can even offer to go with her/him to the first meeting to support him/her. Trying to talk to someone who has major depression is a very touchy and difficult thing to do. Just be patient...and be prepared for her/him to react to you in ways you might not like or expect.
I hope it works out this way....but there are a lot of good suggestions here too.

Just tell them. They should understand. Depression is not something that anyone would just want to have, trust me! Maybe offer them some info, websites, books, things like that to help them understand what your having problems with. I am sure they would anyway, most close friends, family members should go out of their way to help you.

My question would be; why do you have depression and why do you accept it as tho there was nothing you can do about it? You could do such a simple thing as control what you allow to go thru your mind. The depressing thoughts.

depression is very serious it's nothing you hold on to for too long. it can become out of control and when that happens you do not have what it takes to ask for help. while you are still stronger enough to recognized you have a problem you should go to your family, mother ,father or anyone who will listen and take you serious and tell them, "i need help i am so depress and i am afraid, will you help me please?" DO NOT SIT ON THIS I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN THERE!

you are asking how to tell someone if you are depressed then you tell some person to read the question...hey tell that person why you are so depressed, that is the only way you are going to get support that you need.

The people that you are closest to, already know, if you haven't been yourself. The people that matter in your life will be there for you.
Talk to your family and close friends and share your thoughts and fears, don't keep it bundled up inside.

Talk to a professional person, ....then, tell your parents, friends, etc..that you have gone to get help and to please be there for you while you work through this...and let them know that you want to get well and you are hoping they will be there for you as you don't understand it yourself..and ask your doctor to back you up with a letter if you have to to explain to them...
