We see pictures of Jesus as being white. If Jesus is the son of God, that means God is white. Why does God have to be white? Why cant he be Black or Asian? Is it because God is the white man's God? I'm not being cold. I am just curious. What do you think?

The god from the judeo-christian bible is defined as being above any such human classification. This also includes the rules of genetics. God can be any, all, or no colors, and have a 'son' that is white. Also, Jesus has also been defined as not just the son of god, but god himself, as well as the holy ghost. According to the holy trinity, each are all of them, and all are each of them.

Plus, we do not know Jesus' skin color. All we know are what some historical texts have told us. Although, I suppose he was 'white', because the racism that is rampant now, I think was not such 'a big deal' at that time in the world. I think it was more ethnicity and cultural based, than color based. Thus I see not so much of a reason to build a lie that he was white if he wasn't. Maybe he was maybe he wasn't, but there simply is no way to prove different, so it is an exercise in futility.

The first images of Jesus were made at least 200 years after his death. He was first shown as a beardless youth. At the time, Byzantine art (the style of the early Christians) also denied the human body. Everyone was really flat, and the high points in art that the Greeks and Romans acheived were considered evil.

I was once told that if we are all triangles, then god would be the biggest and best triangle! This can be applied to art. If the artists of the time are no longer Semitic, but instead white, then they will make their god look like them. Jesus is no longer Semitic because he wasn't illustrated until no one knew what he looked like.

There are images of Jesus as different races done as well. In Egypt, in a Coptic church, there is a painting of Jesus as a black man. There are also paintings of him with fairer complexion as well. They all vary greatly. I've also seen Jesus' family as Native Americans before as well!

Other gods also tend to look like the people that respect them. Buddha is either Indian, Chinese, or Japanese. Hindu god resemble the people from India as well. The Greco-Roman gods also looked like their followers, but idea. The ancient Egyptian gods that had human forms also looked like the ancient Egyptians! There is a long history in art of people making their gods look like them!

I've seen pictures of God depicted as being black, brown and yellow-God being Jesus Christ. The pictures that we see of Jesus are a [anting by a artist they ar not a photograph, nor a copy of his real likeness-since the land that Jesus walked while on earth is in the area of Pakistan,Israel Iran Iraq area for the geography has changed some since His days on this earth he was more than likely a bit darker than white-Caucasian but nowhere dark enough to be black. We are Not descendants of God but created by Him and does it really matter? God to me is a rainbow, male -female for we were ALL created by Him equally and connected. Our emphasis should be being like Him in spirit-to care for the earth and to love and help each other and have the goal of heaven. Color was determined by the environment-weather and so forth and has Nada to do with what God looks like or who is Superior(no one is). Since the black race originally was in the African lands the skin color was suited for the environment and the climate-White skin simple wouldn't have fared very well in the hot climate. That's all it amounts to.

God is Spirit, he is neither white nor black.
Jesus was Semitic (middle-eastern).

The Christian God is not the white man's God. The statistics show that more non-whites are now Christians than whites.

Cordially,
John

What colour are Jews, Hebrews and Arabs ? It should be the same for Jesus....

Well if at all the theory of creation is right, The first people on earth are claimed to be from Africa - that means God looks something like the Pygmies in Africa !

Well - I answered for the 2 points - better if I get 10 - but as far as I am concerned - it is a Myth !

I believe God is without race. Jesus came to earth as a Jewish man, so he wasn't white. Artists often picture God and Jesus as looking like them.

i don't think Jesus was white...like most middle Easterners he was most likely darker skinned, just because he was "white" doesn't mean God is. he was put into human form so he could die on the cross. being in human for he had to look like a human. God is indescribable so he is not "white" but is some times described as "shining" or something like that

Jesus is protrayed as white because the chruch was controlled by europeans early on> Jesus was actually a jewish man w/ who probably had olive fair skin and dark hair and eyes. God has no physical complexity since he is pure spirit>

God has no color-God is spirit. Jesus is God in human form and had to come as some color and some race and chose to be born of a Jewish virgin. He could have come as a Black or Asian but God chose the Jewish people to reveal himself to and to be born into their bloodline. It does not mean they are more loved, but they were chosen.
