I recently learned that the image of jesus that is displayed just about everywhere is actually copied from an image of zeus from the parthenon, a greek structure. Jesus looked like a dark-skinned semetic,(which is the same ethnic group that sadamn hussain belongs to). So, does it offend you that jesus's common image is actually a pagan god, and he really resembles sadamn much more, a muslim?

Actually, it was off the radio(which is not a perfect source I understand) but with compensation to age, and documentated evidence(not a perfect type of source either with any religious event), it is where they first got the idea. And for those of you who are anal over spelling, and not meaning, I think you can shove it.

I am a Christian and this doesn't offend me. The image of Jesus is just an image, not Jesus in the flesh. That image changes a lot depending on the culture. In Africa, Jesus is typically dressed as an African prince. In Mexico, he his dressed as a native. This is done so that people can relate to Jesus better. Personally, I would rather have Jesus depicted as a dark-skinned Semitic because it is what he most likely looked like.

No it doesn't. The image of Jesus from the cross was created by the Catholic church, during and before the dark ages. When Catholicism merged with paganism of course.

Do more research, Catholics created Christmas after a pagan sungods birthday, created easter after a pagan sungod. Catholicism is filled with pagan mythology also.

So no it does not offend true christians, I don't need to look at a model of Jesus crucified to remember him, besides that is breaking the 3rd commandment (which has also been removed from Catholicism.)

Image of Jesus resembles that of a mid-eastern person who is neither fair nor very dark. Jews were from there, so he would be more tan in the Jewish sense...
People of those times have similar features and bone structures. What makes you think that those greek structures were not copied from a human maniquine? Leonardo Da Vinci drew his paintings from structures of images of people of his time and I even read that he would visit the morgue to see how to draw muscle shapes of a human body...so it could be the same principle!

Actually Zeus image is used to portray God and not Jesus. But if you consider the resemblance of the beard etc, you are right - it is a younger Zeus that looks like Jesus....

The balance of your statements - I have to disagree :)

Jesus is Jewish. I don't care what Hussein looks like. I don't care what images are used to portray Jesus, because all those images are idols and they don't interest me. I know he looked Jewish, yet he was much taller than most of them *Bible*. He would have dark hair, brown eyes, dark skin.....hey, he'd look like a....a....JEW. Muslims and Jews are related---read the Bible and you'll see that they were begun by brothers as different tribes, so it's not impossible that he'd resemble any Mid Eastern person who has the same facial coloring.

All christian festivities, stories and symbols (christmas, easter, aureola, the flood etc) are took over from other religions or from pagans. It was natural progress. And it was easier to make pagans celebrate christian festivities when the dates were identical to the dates of pagan celebrations...
And I don't think that it really matters if Jesus resembled Asians or Africans, religion is about something else.

I confess that I find this difficult to believe without some corroborating evidence (pictures of the Zeus image/ statute within the Parthenon etc; comparision picture of Jesus etc).

Cordially,

interesting first where did you learn this info and how reliable is it? second it does not offend or suprise me because most of the RELIGION aspect of Christianity stems from paganism....To be a Christian implies more than just going to church and believing in stock answers, it is a faith and belief and relationship with Christ.

Anyway thats just an artist's depiction of Christ why would it offend me if someone see parrells of Zeus in Christ?

If you happen to research religious history, like I have, you'll notice the story of Jesus is similar to other gods, and is very closely related to the god Horus. I am not saying that Jesus didn't exist, what I'm saying is his story of his supposed divinty is the same as many other gods. Here, let me show you something. Look at this website, and you'll see what I mean.
