I think it would be cool to help out a few people there, help them better cope with their stay.

yes, there is a lot of hospitals seek volunteers at their place. u can go online searching for hospitals and click on the volunteer section or call them

I used to volunteer at the VA hospital (veterans). They are so understaffed that they could use any help they can get. Plus, many of the veterans there have no family that comes to visit, so it always made my day to sit and talk with them and help them out.

Good for you! Every hospital I have worked in has a volunteer program. Contact your local hospital. They can all use enthusiastic volunteers!

Yes,you can! they love volunteers. I know they used to be called candy stripers but not sure if they go by that anymore.
