Get way from the yahoo!answers and into your bed !!! Just kidding.
You need to go to bed on time. Your body produces melatonin (sleep-related chemical) only at sertain times. (Yes, this stuff also comes in form of a tablet that you can take)
Make sure your bedroom is dark and quiet.
Try a cap of milk before the bedtime. Calcium helps your sleep, plus there is something else about milk that helps you sleep for some reason.
get out of habit of re-thinking your daily thoughts in bed if you have it.
get yourself tired physically during the day, but don't exersise too late in the evening.
You can buy tylenol Pm without the pain reliever. It is called "simply sleep" it is over the counter, non-addictive and after that one, unlike after other stuff I tried, you can actually wake up in the morning.

Try BENADRYL-
Also are you taking any medication that maybe causing this? You might be an insomniac? You should see a sleep doc to help with your problem. I have been taking ambiem and I don't understand how they say you can get addicted to it? Who wants to sleep all time time and if you get addicted to it, what happens? You just go to sleep and isn't that the reason people take anyway?I am confused about that- I do not take it all the time just a couple nights a week and I have had it for about 2 years

I got some sleep aids but I went to the drug store and looked for the ones that don't have the pain killers mixed in with them. You can get just the sleep aid alone without the tylenol which you don't need if your not hurting. My liver doesn't need more to process. Anyways....you need to take them early so you don't have a drug lace. By that I mean the hangover in the morning from taking them that you still want to sleep. In a pinch I have used benedryl that stuff knocks me out but you don't want to take it all the time and mess the sinus up. In my job I have to get sleep posting millions to accounts. This works for me. Not a regular thing to do. I will tell you since I started exercising again on a regular basis I am sleeping like a baby again.

The first thing I have always been told about getting sleep is to practice good "sleep hygiene." Try to go to bed at the same time every night and to get up at the same time every morning. Do not let your bedroom get too dark. We need the sun to help balance our natural levels of melatonin. Try not to drink caffeine after 4PM. Do not do anything in your bed besides sleep and ***. However, these tips do not always help. Insomnia can be a symptom of other conditions, such as depression. If you are seriously having a lot of trouble sleeping, I would suggest seeing your primary care physician.

assuming u r not on meth or a medication I think this problem is serious and you need to go to the Dr. You need a sleep study test. There are not many treatments for chronic insomnia but perhaps you need a sleeping med prescription. I have been there, and all the advice like drinking milk and listening to ocean waves does not work.

Try first to establish a good sleep pattern without using anything, so as to not get yourself hooked to anything. Even if it means staying up all night, you will eventually sleep. If you run to the store or the doctor first, then you haven't really given your body a chance to do what it can.

trust me you will eventually sleep
about day 8 you will totally freak out to the point that it will scare you so bad you will make yourself sleep.
maybe you should go ask a doctor could be a problem with your body or mental heath and they will more then likely do what the did with me, medication. Ambian works great.
But if you don't want to go to a doctor, try to beat my 10 day record :)
