A friend of mine recently posted a blog on her MySpace, announcing that romance is dead. I was devastated, and almost commented with "My boyfriend is the most romantic dude evar!" But I had to stop myself. She was pissed off, see... As far as I can see, romance is very much alive, but what do YOU guys think? What do you consider romantic? And, more importantly, is romance really dead?

Romance, to me, is the way he strokes my hair, the way he kisses my forehead when I'm upset, the way he calls me his queen and kisses my hand, and the way he always wants to make me happy... :)

Your friend is probably going through something, or maybe she is just feeling a bit discouraged. That can often happen after a breakup, or during a long period of being single, or even after a bad date!

As for what she said, I don't believe romance or chilvalry is dead. I still get doors opened for me everyday, but both my own man and others. My boyfriend is romantic in a way that is not over the top with money per se, but more like; he picks out and irons my work outfit every morning, cooks me breakfast in bed for no reason, never says "no" to me, will tell me he loves me in front of anyone and everyone, and always takes care of me (in sickness and in health). Yes nice gifts are an added bonus, but just him holding me like a baby when I'm sick makes me melt.

No, I don't think romance is dead. It's not dead for me.

Now, it may be 'mostly dead' (anyone else a "Princess Bride" fan? ;-) for your friend. Maybe your friend needs some time to get over whatever's going on...

What's Romance or romantic? In no particular order... Writing a love note & leaving it in the fridge. Remembering a special day or event, and mentioning it (particularly if it's not on that day/event). Someone listening to your bad day, giving you a passionate hug and kiss, and letting you know they love you. Receiving flowers, and Buying flowers. Slow dancing and staring into each other's eyes. Candles or soft light... etc.!

hell.. no. [shakes head fiercely] . if it were then i'd rather be dead. romance is really everywhere if we think about it. movies. books. music. and reality itself. whether or not we are able to experience the romance from any of the above is a whole other matter though. just because we may not get to however. we may have doubts that it does not. but it does. and just in case it really doesn't and it's all in my head.

then i'd rather believe that romance is VERY much alive any day. why? cuz i'm much happier believing that it does.

I can understand where she is coming from, because I was like that a while back. I had just gotten out of a crappy relationship and felt like all guys were assholes. But then I met my current boyfriend and he can be really romantic at times, and it's just so sweet the little things he does just make my day so much brighter and make me appreciate him. So tell her to hang in there, she'll get over it and soon find someone who appreciates her.

Romance insn't dead, but it is on the endangered list I'm afraid! The most romantic things are mutual chemistry, passion especially in the Kiss, the desire to put the one you love ahead of yourself.

It seems to be dying, but it's definitely not dead yet.

World seems to be changing with more and more people committing less and less. But there's still a bunch of people that are still romantic. Romance for those who don't need immediate gratification for everything can be very very rewarding!

Depends on the people. Society is also ushering in a new idea that romance equals money, which discourges alot of people.

Personally, I try to romantic when I feel like it. Its not something you can really force.

no romance is not dead, but then every1 has their own ideas about what romance is. for some people its the over the top, full blown gestures that get people and for some its the lil things. for me its the lil touches that make romance, like leaving her a lil note in her purse so when shes out and uses it she sees it, lil stuff like that
