I am a recent convert (4yrs) and tonight I had a shot of whiskey in a bar. It was my first taste of alcohol in over 4yrs. What happens now?

Apparently G-Unit Ghost can't comprehend simple English. I said "Mormons only"!

It all depends what your heart was set on when you drank it. Were you terribly down on life and just happened to slip or were you drinking it just to see what would happen? Sometimes we slip up, and God knows that, which is why we have the whole plan of salvation. That is exactly what the Atonement is for. How do you feel about it? Are you torn up inside and feeling repentant about it? Do you want to make it right? Or do you feel no remorse about it because you don't really care? It is all in how your heart is. Talk to your bishop about it. If you are seriously repentant, you will be forgiven. If not, then I guess it is up to you what you do with your life. God gave us agency, but we will have to answer for what we use it for, good or bad.

Not a Mormon, but I just wanted to ask what happens when you commit any sin that doesn't break a law? It all boils down to your beliefs. Were you testing God's judgement? Are you going to ask for forgiveness? Was it good whiskey?

I'm thinking that life will go on, and you'll have to decide whether you regret taking that shot, or if you'll have another tomorrow.

Just let your Bishop know, and repentence is between you and the Lord. I wouldn't stress too much. Talk to your Bishop not neceseraly because of the one shot of whiskey, but more to help make sure you don't make a habit of the drinking. Good luck and remember it isn't as big as Satan would have you believe, but it's important to remember repentence and that Christ is there to help you.

I"m not a Mormon but I had this discussion with some of them not too long ago. The Mormon church doesn't absolutely ban cigarrettes, whiskey, beer, Coke, etc. For the most part they just discourage the use of it. Nowhere in the book of Mormon does it actually forbid these "sins".

about the earlier post. if it were grape juice, why was there the comment that most people serve the better wine first, but the not as good wine later, but this time it was good wine the whole time? this would only be applicable to alcohol, where, if you have a bit, you don't necessarily care if you are being served the good stuff.

Christians don't drink alcohol friend...

Also mormons believe they can be like God, they believe Eve did a good thing eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil.

One of Satan's first lies was, 'ye shall be as gods'.

::edit:: Jesus did not drink alcohol, the word for alcoholic wine and grape juice was the same. Alcohol hurts the system, it is said that to defile the body is wrong.

1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Well, I would go an talk to my bishop, and get help before it turns into a more serious problem. I don't think any disciplinary action would be taken, but it would be nice to get it off your chest, and taken care of. And don't drink, it ruins lives. (Speaking from family experience).

Dont do it again, get back on your horse. Talk to bishop, don't make such a big deal about it though.
