Leading Evander down a road that may find him with a serious injury. He honestly thinks he has a chance of regaining the Heavyweight Title (5th time). He's one of my favorites all time due to his "never back down" fight strategy, but lets be honest, listen to him do an interview the man needs to hang em up or he'll be as bad as Meldric Taylor is today. So, was it a joke? Yes but the punchline is yet to be revealed.

You are exactly right.. Bates was "custom built" for Holyfield.. a guy who doesn't move, and doesn't have speed.
Holyfield wanted the win so he could rely on his rep to get a top 10 shot. But he'll get creamed by just about everyone in the top 10... he needs to hang up the gloves and get on with life.

Looked Like it, No will to fight back, Bates seemed okay with getting spanked. Maybe there was an intimidation factor fighting holyfield.

Well this wasn't exactly a true main event as Bates was no match for Holyfield and probably intended to be that way as a tune up for a bigger named opponent for his next fight.

I would have to say yes & no. Yes because he fought an insurance salesman who was going to retire after that fight. No because, in my opinion, that fight was a stepping stone for Mr. "Real Deal" Holyfield. I'm pretty sure he'll fight a top contender soon. Maybe even a title fight.

I didn't see the fight but I am just saddened to see one of boxing's most exciting and courageous champions of all time going back to the well yet again. Evander certainly doesn't need the money and his legacy is secure. Coming back now just increases the risk of permanent injury, not to mention the likelihood of brain damage at some point. Stick to Dancing with the Stars Evander and thanks for the memories!

I live in the same town as Jeremy Bates, if you think he took a dive or was a pawn for an easy win, come to Parkersburg, WV and ask him yourself. You leave with your head disconnected from your body

Yes Holyfield needs to give it up before he becomes another victim of Dementia Pujolistica.

Actually he landed 1-2 heavy punches into Holly's face, but overall Holly looked good, much better than in Toney and Donald fights (last 2 losses of his) he moved pretty fast! well enough words, here is a link to the fight itself! everyone enjoy!

Boxing can be a crooked organisation as I'm sure most know, It could have been seat up just to give Evander some ring time.
Before he goes up against someone better.
