I also took Ativan.Ambien was great! I feel asleep easier than I ever had in my life! When I woke up I didn't feel like I didn't want to get out of bed.Try it a few nights,if you don't like it you can always discontinue.I think you'll love it!Sweet Dreams!♥

My IQ from a test online came up 126 I don't even know if that is high or low! But to answer your question if you are not taking any prescription pills to sleep and are still managing then your best bet is to stay with the tylenol pm! If you are taking Ativan perscribed to you during the day, then your doc probably suggested taking 2 at night. Either way, All sleeping/anxiety pills are very addicting! Stick with the tylenol pm if possible! They say ambien is non habit forming but that is a lie!

Ambien works. However, I found that it must be used on a short term basis. The doctors will state that it is not addictive, but eventually one ambien a night has to become two.

Please, stay away from Ambien! I know several people who have taken it and all of them refuse to take it anymore. Two people very close to me have shared the same common side effects as the others I know who have taken it. I was laughing so hard when they shared their experience but it really wasn't funny. It could have been dangerous because you are unaware of what you are doing and have no memory of doing it the next morning. The first person that took it woke up in the morning surrounded by dishes, food and crumbs in the bed with her, The male that took it got up in the middle of the night and walked in the living room and stood over an antique velvet chair thinking he was in the bathroom. You can take it from there. As far as sleeping and Ativan---I take ativan during the day also, but at night I take 2. That seems to work for me. I used to take Trazadone but I felt a bit drugged the next morning. I may have taken it too late in the evening or needed a lower dose. At any rate, I switched to the Ativan and for now it serves the purpose. Good-Luck

Ambien works well as a short term solution to sleeping problems but it IS habit forming and does nothing for anxiety. As far as a combo drug, most anti-anxiety meds cause drowsiness but if they don't make you sleep , you may need to double up. Ambien CR is good too (short term) and you can get a voucher for a 7 day trial on-line- couldn't hurt! Klonopin, Xanax XR, and Prozac are good for anxiety...

I have taken Tylenol PM and just one wouldn't work for me.
I take a Benadryl now at night. It works quite well for me. If I take two I'm knocked out for too many hours - so I don't do two.
You are taking a Rx med - so you will need to consult with your Doctor first before you add any more meds. At the very least, even your pharmacist can let you know what's too much - based on your current Ativan usage.

I have used Ambien and found that it got me to sleep but I woke up early so I quit using it. My son takes Trazadone to help him sleep. It works well for him. He takes Lexapro for depression and anxiety and it works okay for him. XananXR is habit forming if you use it for more than three weeks. Most benzos are habit forming after three weeks. Benzos are used mostly short term.
Xanax and Ativan are benzos.

I have a hard time sleeping have had this proplem for as long as i could remember. I tryed ambein and it worked very well I slept good or at least I thought I did but acording to everyone else I walked around the house and ate, chases little blue men out of my house and one night I saw a huge circis on the ceiling of my bedroom, it put on a good show. I did not remember any of this at all but it started to bother me when I could not rmember doing anything with my husband. After I stopped using it I saw on the news that other people were driving around at night and never remembeing it either, eating, showering doing everything and not knowing it in the morning. I have heard that it works with out problem with some people but if you are thinking of using it be very carful with it.

I have taken both of those and found that they leave me feeling groggy and cloudy in the morning. I have tried splitting dosages but it seems as though I can't get going the next day after taking either of these. If I was to recommend a sleeping aid I would highly suggest Lunesta. I have found it to be useful without side effects. I get a sound sleep without the groggy feeling in the morning. Just make sure you have 8 hours to sleep.
