the pic will be clear then get snowy, then get "scratchy" making noise, then it will clear up. the frame will move up(bottom of the screen is in the middle of the screen) Is it the cable connection? I thought if a t.v. went bad it just dies or has only one color or is snowy all the time. can the cable that connects the tv to the cable box go bad by it being twisted back and forth when i move the t.v., its on a swivel to turn it from bedroom to the sitting room? I need help! I don't want to drag the thing down 4 flights of stairs to take it to the repair shop to find out its a cable. Thanks all

Sounds like the tube is worn out. A new television would be as cheap as repairing the old one. Sorry.

You appear to be describing 2 separate faults. The first is a signal fault that could be a cable connection or a dry soldered joint on the tuner unit . The picture rolling up from bottom is a very common fault on most make and models of TV sets, this is usually a bad soldered joint on the vertical amp chip , needs re solder job with small solder iron , needs a bit of expertise though , I can`t help think that the best course for you is to get the TV service to call and examine and maybe give you an estimate for the repair !!!I hope this helps !!PS . Ignore idiots who say sounds like the tube, see next answer, wonder what he uses his other hand for ?
