Hmmm...ready for a challenge? LOL My ex was the same way. Was dead set against dogs...any dogs and I knew I was going to get into rescue and had to convince him that he wanted to do this too! I had him go to a shelter with me and see the dogs on 'death row'. This for the heartstring factor and assuming your hubby isn't a monster, this should at least make him consider it. Then I had him meet a friend who had a very well trained dog and let him see how fun and wonderful a dog could be. I also let him know that I had been reading books on care, training, feeding, etc so he knew I was ready for this task. I then took him back to the shelter to meet the wiggly, furry, adorable mass of puppy fun I wanted to adopt! Dobby won him over and my rescue was born! It had tough spots for sure but once my hubby bonded with the pup, he was as dedicated as I was to making him a family member for life. Good luck!

You can do what I did when mine kept telling me we did'nt need a dog.Take him for a ride in the car and go to the nearest shelter and pick one out and pay for it.
When he insisted we did'nt need another pup to keep this one company I again told him we were going for a ride and let him watch me pay for the second one.
He's done alot of whining and moaning over the last 4 yrs.about our dogs but he loves them as much as I do.They're our kids.
And here's a good one.I catch him almost weekly looking at puppies in the paper and we've had many discussions as to whether I think I can handle walking 3 german shepherds alone because he wants a female.Big Old Softie misses having a tiny cute little puppy in the house.

Well, the bigger question here is whether he is your husband, which would infer some degree of equality in your relationship, or if his role more closely approximates a "daddy"? Yes, he needs to be involved but your use of the word 'let" does not in my mind bode well for a partnership based on each one's individuality. Hopefully I'm reading way too much into your question.

Well, you need to consider what his reasons are for NOT getting a puppy...that should dictate what you need to say to try to convince him.
Puppies are not like cats. They need interaction often and take quite a bit of training. Be absolutely certain you want a puppy, for they always turn into dogs.

im only 10 but i think you can tell him that a dog (or puppy) can do lots of things. And if your busy, dogs (r puppys) can be locked up in a bathroom or laundry. I have a puppy myself and he stays in a bathroom when my grandparrents arnt home to look after him or my mum + dad go work and my sister and i go school.

you are an adult, you don't need permission. he should be willing to sit down and discuss his reasons with you and the two of you come to a decision together. if he simply doesn't care for animals, that isn't a serious deal breaking reason. communication is always the key. I'd give it a shot.
