You might get stung by a yellow jacket wasp, but I doubt you'll get bitten by a yellow jacket bee. If you get stung put a baking soda paste on the site to kill the pain.

Yellow jackets are wasps, not bees, and they sting rather than biting. Actually, if a yellow jacket bites you, you probably won't even notice it. If you are stung you will have a histamine reaction ranging from pain, swelling, and elevated temperature, up to death if you are very allergic.

If you get bitten, maybe a little pinch, If you get stung, the bee dies, and you may too, if you are allergic, otherwise, a bit of pain, localized swelling, itch.

they sting, and as long as your not allergic, you will be fine, it will hurt for a bit..put some ice, or Mud on it. sometimes the stinger gets stuck..make sure it is out. I understand that they die after they sting someone...i dunno if that is sad or sweet irony.
