Sorry but i dont really know too many details about the car other than it has around 110,000 miles on it and my dad's friend was gonna restore it but stopped. He's asking $1000 for it, and it comes with new doors, a hood, and a new windshield washer pump. I like the body of the car, and the fuel efficiency seems bearable. The thing that i'm worried about is the fact that when i posted this question in car-forums.com people said that the car would need worked on every week and is not a good buy becuase 85's have a carburetor....Anyways i just wanted to get a few more opinions on the car, and whether its dependable, and the parts for it are affordable.

Thanks

this car shouldn't have to be worked on every weekend or even every month. only if you like to tinker with it. once you get it running properly it will be fine. just remember that if you are in cold weather it will be harder to start because of the carburetor. once you get used to it its no big deal. i had a 79 Chevy for thirteen years and never had to worry about touching it every weekend/month/year. just do your routine maintenance like you would any other car and and you'll be fine. the parts for this car should be easy to find and reasonably priced. there were a lot of them made and parts are usually available at junkyards and on line. one other thing is that you shouldn't need any metric tools. also check out the web for car clubs that might be able to give you more info. enjoy it

I owned a '86 from '86 to '98. Twelve years with no major problems.
A performance chip helped a LOT.

TIP: keep the engine in good tune. The ignition module is inside the distributor, and if there is any arcing of the spark due to poor state of tune, it shorts/burns out the module. Result? engine shutdown.

I learned this the hard way.
