I was invited to my half-sister's wedding next week. I am unable to attend due to medical issues. I am not very close to my half-sisters (I only found out I even had half-sisters a few years ago). Should I still send a gift or card anyway?

Yes, defiantly! I have a step sister who I do not know very well, my gift to her was that I made her some thank you cards to give to everyone. I just asked her mom my step mother what I could do because I wanted to do something. I think it is a great chance to get to know her better and you can never have enough family and friends. You may regret or look uncaring if you do not, especially since weddings do not happen often. If you do get a gift you have nothing to lose, plus giving feels good.

Yes! Definitely! The suggestion given by MIDNIGHTCAT is fantastic. Personally, I think too it is the best way to go. In the present world we cant complain or do anything about having extended families so do the next best thing...embrace it as your own and be glad that you have more loved ones in your life and more wonderful people to care for and who will care for you...be it even in the littlest way as just a Hi! once in a while! You should send a gift and a personally written card and give her a call on the day! It will be so wonderful because it is the most important day in her life. You are a nice person. Help them know you better and I am sure you will find how wonderful they are!

Would you want her to send a gift if it was your wedding?

If yes, send a gift. If not, don't.

Send a card if you want to have ongoing contact with your half-sister. Otherwise, let it go.
