Yes! I actually spoke with a sleep specialist recently and he said that when you reach REM sleep, you're body puts itself in a paralyzed state to protect itself from acting out dreams. Some people have problem with this functioning properly - those are the sleep walkers. There was a recent case of someone acting out their dream and being acquited of murder - they had no clue what they'd done. For normal people, you may on occasion come out of REM sleep and have a sense of conciousness that you are sleeping but your body hasn't quite come out of the protective paralysis. What you describe above is what you are experiencing.

The condition is called sleep paralysis.
It's very frightening, isn't it?
Studies show that the majority of individuals experience it once or twice in their lives.
However, some people may experience it frequently, and the episodes may last longer. If this happens to you often, see your doctor and insist on doing on overnight 'sleep study' in a lab where you are monitored overnight. Sleep paralysis can be a sign of other major sleep disorders such as narcolepsy.
good luck!

Yeah, I have. It was pretty scary because I was in a position where I couldn't breathe either. I couldn't wake up enough to move, and couldn't breathe enough to fall back asleep. I finally was able to move enough to roll over onto my back and catch my breath. After breathing for a few minutes I was able to move and eventually go back to sleep. From then on I've made a conscious effort to not sleep on my stomach.

Yeah it is sleep paralysis. It is when you get woke up suddenly and your body is still in like sleep mode. It only last for a second. But it can be real scary sometimes.

I have. It is a scary experience. Also I have been screaming in my dream and had a terrible feeling of no sound coming out of my mouth, therefore, no one could hear me (I bet the neighbors like that part). However, this experience also is similar to the one where you dream that you are falling endlessly and cannot stop.

Yeah, no longer something to be petrified of in case you haven't any longer experienced it. i concept in the sleep paralysis concept till one nighttime. i became into unexpectedly woken up, and that i felt some thing there, retaining me down. i became into so drained, and this had occurred approximately 20 some unusual cases previously, so i became into in basic terms going to grant in and bypass to sleep this time. The greater I enable bypass, the louder I heard this demonic growling. very almost in my soul. I then began to plead the blood of Jesus, and the entity left. every time that happens you will possibly desire to mentally say I rebuke thee in the call of Jesus. there is greater ability in that call than you will possibly care to have self belief. Watch a real exorcism. i do no longer mean that corny action picture, I mean an previous college catholic priest doing his element. The call of Jesus makes evil tremble. undergo in thoughts, you're no longer the only one this happens to, and if your faith is enhanced than the evil it is making an attempt to overpower you, you will continuously be secure. I even have had them tell me, "Your God can no longer help you" or perhaps those cases my lord prevailed. I frequently awaken annoyed whilst it happens. Pray for Jesus to shelter you from all evils. it somewhat is a terrible element to ensue, yet save faith. EDIT: i'm no longer a sort of individuals who push their faith on people, yet i'm no longer able to anticipate the day that one among you "smart" people on right here, with a scientific foundation (that's certainly a faith by skill of definition) has some thing bodily show up, and you haven't any longer any thought what to do, yet howdy, to each and each his very own. in spite of. by skill of how, have you ever puzzled why once you're somewhat, somewhat sleepy, you start up off "questioning" you spot sh*t? this is because of the fact you lose administration of that extreme college, the veil in case you will, that separates this length, from the 4th. It somewhat has a scientific rationalization, yet I won't bypass into it right here. i'm an quite analytical individual, yet so some distance the potential of dissimilar realities some distance outweighs this bullsh*t, ego pushed, existence.

I haven't, but it's pretty common. It's known as sleep paralysis. I think there are meds that can help if it bothers you.
