I'm gettting a Yorkshire Terrior puppy offline from someone in another country and they are going to have it flown here. But I have to give 200$ through a moneygram? It is safe or is it fake?

I just had a friend who was scammed by this same exact thing. She wanted a teacup yorkie, paid 900 dollars for it over the internet, and was scammed out of her money. I wouldnt trust it if I were you. Plus you should always see your dog in person before you buy him/her, to make sure it is in good health, and is a well tempered dog.

More likely fake than not.... please don't do it. If it's a purebreed, it would cost more than $200, from anywhere. Do you trust this person wholly and completely? Have you seen the dog in the person's house, such as on webcam? Have you seen it's parents? Has the person sent you papers? The dog could have been neglected, it could be sick, infected with a disease, it could have been beaten when very young and thus aggressive... find a friendly local breeder in the classified's section of the newspaper. They want to get rid of their puppies for a genuine reason and not only will you be able to view the mother and possibly the father, you will get papers. It's much safer to do it the traditional way.... or maybe check out the local pound? There are many puppies there that need a loving home.

There's a good chance that it is fake... give me the name of the breeder and kennel and/or the website and I will research it for you... you should consider rescueing one in America also... even if it is not a scam, a lot can happen on the plane ride across the ocean... and if something does happen (sick, genetic concern, registration problems) it will be much harder to work with someone outside of the USA. Importing dogs should be done by professionals who are very knowledgeable about the dogs and frankly, who can afford to go to the other country to see the dogs.

There are puppy mills that do this but there is also a running scam that takes the $$$ and doesn't mail pup. Now consider, those I know who have travled by air with their dogs have payed more for the dog than them - time you add in the crate purchase it would have been over $200......

It is just a scam.... I have seen alot of people get caught up in this. Don't send any money unless you can see the dog, or you know they are a reputable breeder! I say if it is out of the country then it's out of my hands, and I don't need it.

Thanks Cindy

BOGUS!!! Buy from a reputable breeder and make sure the parents have been fully tested and are healthy, or else save a life and adopt one. Look up:
http://www.yorkshireterrierrescue.com/ Don't get scammed. What do you think you're really going to get for just 200.00?

Save yourself the heartbreak and financial loss. This is a scam. First, the puppy would have to be kept in quarantine for several weeks to months before being allowed to enter the US and you would have to provide financing for his boarding and health care during that time not to mention the money needed to pay for the pup's transportation could be very pricey.

DON'T do it!!! Sounds like a scam!! There are plenty of good breeders right here in the states and probley plenty in your state. There is no reason to buy outside the country. Besides, would you want to be MAILED!!!!

My GSD was an import. There is no quarantine period for the USA. They just need proof of shots and a health certificate from a veterinarian.

Check references and be wary. Why not buy one here?
